Alexi Carli, CSP, spent more than 40 years with UPS, retiring as vice president of safety and health in 2018. In her role with the company, she prepared and presented business cases at various levels of the organization, including the C-suite. Carli is president of Carli Consulting LLC. She holds degrees in business management and occupational safety and health. In addition, she is chair of the ANSI/ASSP Z16 Committee developing a standard on safety and health performance metrics.

Amy Timmerman is a highly seasoned safety professional who has held leadership positions implementing safety programs and services for global companies like GE, Siemens and Stryker. She is chair of the ANSI/ASSP Z10 Committee and a member of the leadership team for the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Project Committee 283 that publishes ISO 45001, the international standard on occupational health and safety management systems. Timmerman is the president of AT Safety, a consulting firm that specializes in management systems. She is a recognized expert in management systems, risk assessments, incident investigation and regulatory compliance. Timmerman is also an assistant professor at Illinois State University, where she teaches courses in its safety degree program. Outside of safety, she is actively involved in Girls on the Run and is an avid fitness and health enthusiast.

Anil Mathur is a retired president and CEO of Oregon-based Alaska Tanker Company (ATC), which operates large ocean-going oil tankers from Alaska to Washington, California and Hawaii.
Mathur first served as public director on our Board of Directors from 2018-21, and was reappointed to the role in 2023. He provides a corporate perspective from outside the occupational safety and health profession. His term runs through June 30, 2024.
Mathur also serves as a trustee of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in his dual leadership role.
During his distinguished career, Mathur's commitment to workplace safety was well-known across the industry. He has been recognized by the governors and state legislators of Alaska and Washington for ATC's safety and environmental record.
Prior to joining ATC in 2001, Mathur worked for BP for 20 years in management, corporate planning and facilities engineering. He also spent five years at Cities Service Company (CITGO) in engineering and in research and development.
Mathur earned an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley; a master's degree in engineering from the University of Tulsa; and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in India. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and resides in Portland, OR.

Bruce Lyon is vice president and risk consultant with Hays Companies Inc. Bruce Sufranski, CPA, is director, finance/controller. He manages all aspects of the Society's finance and accounting functions including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, treasury and investment management. He also oversees the facilities management functions, and he serves as controller of the ASSP Foundation. Sufranski, who joined ASSP in May 2009, holds a Master of Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he also earned a B.A. in Economics. C. Gary Lopez is an ASSP Fellow and a recipient of the National Safety Council's Distinguished Service to Safety award, among other honors. His courses are based on the 45 years he has spent in safety, primarily in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device and construction industries.
Camille Oakes, M.Eng., CSP, SMS, CIT, is a safety professional with 15 years of experience helping companies create better training, better culture and better business practices on their way to Better Safety. Camille combines a safety engineering education with practical experience to teach safety professionals how to reduce risk.

Daniel J. Snyder, Ed.D., CSP, CHST, OHST, CIT, is owner and founder of research-based consultancy Safety Mentor. He joined the ASSP Board of Directors on July 1, 2021, serving a three-year term. He also serves as a trustee of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in his dual leadership role.
Snyder's safety career includes more than 30 years of consulting, training, research, mentoring and creating sustainable solutions. He holds a master's degree in human resource development and a doctorate degree in adult and lifelong learning from the University of Arkansas. He has been an ASSP member since 2005.
Snyder is also a professional speaker and published author. His works include the SPAN exam study workbooks, the ethics chapter in ASSP's "Consultants Business Development Guide" published in 2015, and the National Safety Council's "Pocket Guide to Safety Essentials, Second Edition" published in 2014.
Snyder is committee chair for the ANSI/ASSP Z490.1 standard on EHS training. He also is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 283 for the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems standard. He resides in the Ozarks of Missouri.

David Natalizia leads the ergonomics practice for BSI services and solutions. He is a recognized expert on slip and trip prevention, and has implemented practical solutions in hospitality, industrial, agriculture and construction environments. Delaney King has worked as an instructor and adult educator for nearly 10 years. Jeanette Black is a professor in the College of STEMM at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is the co-author of "The Human Factor to Profitability: Building a People-Centered Culture for Long-Term Success." Black is an occupational health nurse/nurse practitioner who has worked with Fortune 500 companies focused on developing psychologically healthy workplaces.
Eldeen Pozniak is an international management consultant who specializes in occupational safety and health. She is committed to a safer world of work. Pozniak has more than 25 years of diverse industry experience within 21 countries and on five continents.

Gary J. Garrahan is the manager of environment, health and safety for The Wonderful Company, a privately held grower, harvester, bottler, packager and marketer of products including fruits, nuts, flowers, water, wines and juices. He lives in Bakersfield, CA.
With more than 30 years of experience, James Boretti has an extensive background in safety. As a business owner, he provides leadership and oversight of business operations, including board consultations. Boretti is a CSP, member of the ASSP Code of Conduct Committee and former regional vice president of Region I.

James R. Thornton, CSP, CIH, FASSP, FAIHA, became the 109th president of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) on July 1, 2023, serving a one-year term. He also serves as chair of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in his dual leadership role. He has been an ASSP member since 1998 and lives in Hampton, VA.
Thornton has more than 50 years of workplace safety and health experience. He is president of consulting firm Alpha Industries LLC following a 40-year career directing safety, health and environment at Huntington Ingalls Industries, the largest builder and repairer of U.S. Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines. He led the creation of a three-story primary healthcare center for families of maritime workers that serves more than 60,000 people.
Prior to his time at the shipyard, Thornton worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Research Triangle Institute from 1971-76.
Thornton has given ASSP a strong presence in Washington, D.C., through his extensive work in government affairs over many years. He earned the Society's President's Award and is a two-time recipient of the Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award. He also taught occupational safety and health courses at two colleges in Virginia.
In 2020, Thornton became an ASSP Fellow - the Society's highest honor - for his significant contributions to the occupational safety and health profession. He holds a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Auburn University and a master's degree in industrial hygiene from Texas A&M University.
Thornton chaired the OSHA Maritime Advisory Committee for Safety and Health from 2003 to 2016 and is a recipient of the U.S. Department of Labor Distinguished Service Impact Award for his work with OSHA.
Thornton believes in comprehensive worker well-being to holistically address an employee's safety and health, moving beyond traditional wellness initiatives. He also supports diversity, equity and inclusion, leading ASSP's commitment to principles of fairness, respect and equitable opportunities for all. And he promotes the continuous improvement of safety professionals no matter their career level, stressing the need for staying current on workplace safety strategies while possessing a strong business acumen.
Among the many organizations he supports as a volunteer is the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which helps find homes for surrendered animals and provides education on responsible pet care.
Thornton and his wife, Donna, have been married for 52 years and have one daughter and three grandchildren. They were childhood sweethearts who grew up only three blocks apart in Alabama.

Jennifer McNelly works with the Board of Directors to execute ASSP's strategic plan for growth while building on the Society's 108-year legacy and addressing the evolving needs of the professional occupational safety and health community. She leads 75 staff members and more than 35,000 safety and health professionals worldwide. McNelly most recently was president of 180 Skills LLC, an online career and technical education company aimed at closing the manufacturing skills gap. Jennifer M. McNelly, CAE, has more than 30 years of association, government, regulatory and business experience. She has served as the Society's CEO since Aug. 16, 2018. She also serves as secretary and CEO of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in her dual leadership role.
McNelly advances the organization's mission to help its members and their employers create safe work environments worldwide through the prevention of injuries, illnesses and fatalities. She works with the Board of Directors and ASSP's professional staff to execute ASSP's strategic plan for growth while addressing the evolving needs of 35,000 safety and health professionals around the globe.
McNelly's leadership strengthens ASSP's position as a leading voice while fostering a culture that is diverse, inclusive and advances equity across all aspects of the Society. She strives to create safe and welcoming environments.
McNelly previously served as president of The Manufacturing Institute, the nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the national authority on attracting and developing world-class manufacturing talent. Over nine years with NAM, she was a national champion in changing the perception of manufacturing careers and re-establishing the United States as the global leader in technical education. McNelly launched the national STEP Ahead™ initiative to increase the engagement of women in manufacturing and co-founded National Manufacturing Day™ to engage the next generation workforce.
McNelly served at the U.S. Department of Labor as director of the Business Relations Group and administrator of its Office of Regional Innovation and Transformation. Kathy Seabrook is an influential futurist, working with companies across industry sectors and leveraging workplace OSH for operational and commercial excellence. Loui McCurley is CEO of PMI and founder of the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians. For decades she has worked on a global scale to improve knowledge, training, and equipment for enhanced safety in work at height. She has served as a member of ANSI Z359 committee on fall protection and as a SPRAT certified rope access technician for over 20 years, and has authored three textbooks on related topics. Loui is recognized internationally as a thought leader, training specialist, and authority on safety in rope access and related fields including rescue, fall protection, and safety at height.

Stephanie L. Johnson, CSP, CHMM, joined the ASSP Board of Directors on July 1, 2023, serving a three-year term. She has nearly 20 years of safety and health experience. She also serves as a trustee of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in her dual leadership role.
An ASSP member since 2007, Johnson has served in several leadership positions with Region III and the Blacks in Safety Excellence Advisory Committee. She has also served on the Society's Professional Development Conference Planning Committee and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit Planning Committee.
Professionally, Johnson has led several divisions of EHS disciplines for corporate entities in various industries. She currently leads an EHS compliance program for AT&T with responsibility for petroleum tank compliance, spill prevention control and countermeasures, and remediation.
In her community, Johnson is on the board for Texas Exes - Dallas Chapter and the Dallas Black Dance Theater. She also serves on the College of Natural Sciences Advisory Council for the University of Texas at Austin.

Steve Roberts, Ph.D., is the co-founder of Safety Performance Solutions. For the past 30 years, he has been focused on implementing people-based safety processes. Director-at-Large Steven B. Gray, CSP, CHST, started his role on the ASSP Board of Directors on July 1, 2022, serving a three-year term. He also serves as a trustee of the ASSP Foundation, the Society's charitable arm, in his dual leadership role.
Gray has held numerous leadership positions within ASSP, including vice president of the Council on Region Affairs and vice president of Region III. He holds a bachelor's degree in fire protection and safety engineering technology from Oklahoma State University.
An ASSP member since 2001, Gray has earned Safety Professional of the Year at the Society, region and chapter levels and received the Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award. He resides in Virginia Beach, VA.
During his career, Gray has been a senior site WHS manager for Amazon; and global senior manager, HSE, for the Government Services Division of KBR, based in Houston, TX. He has also worked for FMC Technologies, Manhattan Construction, Dallas Cowboys, ISNetworld and CBRE during a safety career that spans nearly 25 years.
Gray serves as a trustee for the Texas Safety Foundation and previously volunteered as a coach and board president for Miracle League DFW, a baseball association for children with special needs.

Tim Fisher, CSP, CHMM, CPEA, ARM, FASSP, has been with ASSP since 1995. He provides direction in the overall administration and operation of the technical aspects of ASSP-related standards programs and publications. During his ASSP career, he also served as manager of governmental affairs and standards and director of practices and standards. Before joining ASSP, he was facilities and operations manager with Allstate Insurance Co. and he served in the U.S. Air Force. A professional member of ASSP, Fisher holds an M.S. in Industrial Management -Safety and Industrial Hygiene from Northern Illinois University, an M.A. in Public Administration from University of Illinois-Chicago and a B.A. in Management from the University of Maryland University College. Page-Bottorff is a safety trainer, author, podcast host and motivational speaker who has been an ASSP member since 2001. He lectures for the OSHA Training Institute at the University of California San Diego Extension. He is the author of "The Core of Four" and has earned Safety Professional of the Year honors at the chapter, region and Society levels.
Page-Bottorff previously served as the Society's Region II vice president, deputy vice president of the Council on Region Affairs and member of the Finance Committee. He regularly speaks at conferences and events across the country, including ASSP's annual Professional Development Conference and Exposition.
Trish Ennis is a leadership, risk management and occupational safety and health professional with more than 30 years of experience. She has expertise in many different areas, including construction, property management, healthcare and zoo and animal management.
