The Texas Rural Health Association (TRHA) was established in 1984 by a steering committee of representatives from various West Texas entities, including county governments, public health departments, and educational/healthcare institutions. Efforts were encouraged by the Texas Tech University Regional Academic Health Center in Odessa, which also provided a convenient operational base in the early stages. Many other organizations also supported TRHA with meeting space, travel costs for representatives, materials, and supplies... TRHA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to improve the health of rural Texans. Our members are dedicated to providing leadership on rural healthcare issues throughout Texas... These are among the key issues addressed by the Texas Rural Health Association (TRHA), based in Abilene, TX. We bring leaders together from across the state to improve the health of rural Texans through advocacy, communication, and education.
