CAMLAS FARM VETS - Key Persons


Amy McKie

Amy graduated from the University of Bristol in 2009 and has worked at Camlas since. Initially working in mixed practice, she became a farm-only partner with Camlas Farm Vets in October 2013 when the original practice split into two businesses. Her interests include fertility work, infectious diseases and herd health planning. Amy completed the Diploma in Bovine Reproduction (DBR) in 2016 with merit and is keen to work with farmers to maimise their herd's fertility. She came back from maternity leave in January 2021 and is pleased to be back working with cows. Outside of work she is usually found walking or doing 'ridiculous' sports such as SCUBA diving, outdoor swimming or climbing - however this year she and her husband are focusing on building their own house!

Cerys Evans

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Receptionist and on - Farm Scorer
Cerys joined us in November 2018 working part-time. Her office work involves working on reception as well as responsibility for our in-house lab testing. On farm she is an accredited Mobility Scorer and undertakes routine mobility and body condition scoring on our dairy herds. She also assists the vets on-farm such as wormer resistance profiling, faecal egg count collection, and helping with TB paperwork on large tests. Cerys is also a relief milker and in 2020 has started her Higher National Diploma in Agriculture at Newtown College. When she is not working, she is an active member of Young Farmers and rears a small flock of Greyface Dartmoors.

Clair Humphreys

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Receptionist
Clair has worked within the veterinary world since completing a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management. She joined us in October 2019 and rapidly became an integral part of the team. Outside of work she enjoys photography, watching motorsport, travelling and spending time with her dogs. She has been involved in world of dog agility for a number of years and is a certified trainer and judge and has competed with her most recent dog to Champ and International level, being part of the Welsh Team in 2016.

Emma Hughes

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Assistant
Emma worked as a mixed practice vet for 11 years before joining our practice in September 2018. Prior to her veterinary degree from Cambridge she studied Animal Science at Nottingham University. Emma is experienced in farm animal work and keen to focus on all aspects of the job. Outside of work Emma enjoys walking her adorable border terrier, Dora, and helping her family with their flock of sheep.

Fflur Roberts

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Partner
Fflur qualified as a Vet from Glasgow University in 2006 having previously completed a degree in Agricultural Science with Honours in Animal Science at Endinburgh University. She came to work at Camlas as a mixed practitioner in 2006 and became a partner in Camlas Farm Vets LLP in October 2013. Fflur enjoys all aspects of farm animal practice but her main interest lies in beef and sheep production and medicine, with lambing time being her most favourite time of year. When not at work Fflur enjoys roaming the countryside walking her dog, putting her amazing knitting skills to use, or running trail races. She dreams of one day owning her own flock of native sheep.

Iolo White

Iolo joined the practice in September 2013 to focus on his interest in farm animal practice, after working for two years with Williams Vets in Machynlleth as a mixed practice vet. He becamse a partner in the business in October 2017. His particular interest is sheep medicine and health planning. Iolo grew up in Pontrobert where he went to primary school, followed by Llanfair Caereinion high school. He then went to Liverpool university to study vet science, and enjoys being back in his local area again after 8 years away. In his spare time Iolo enjoys managing his small flock of Black Welsh Mountain and Balwen sheep, breeding Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, as well as riding his horse and walking his two dogs Mostyn and Gel. He also enjoys socialising and cooking. He follows rugby, and has taken up playing again with COBRA and is happy to be back on the pitch again.

Kim Evans

Job Titles:
  • Accounts Manager
Kim joined our team in March 2018 with a farming background. She is a woman of many talents, having worked on reception for us before taking over as accounts manager. She is also responsible for dairy data input. Outside of work, when she is not helping on the family beef and poultry farm (or managing her menagerie of farm pets!) she has a love of running and the outdoors.

Mari Watkin Evans

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Receptionist and SQP
Mari previously worked at Wynnstay and has been a welcome addition to our busy office team since April 2021. As well as general reception duties she has her AMTRA SQP qualification and as such is able to prescribe certain classes of medications to clients. Outside of work she is still living the farming life with her flock of pedigree Texel sheep as well as working on her partner's dairy farm. She also enjoys exploring new places with her terrier Siani.

Paula Romeo Garcia

Paula qualified from the University of Zaragoza in Spain in 2014 and has been working in Wales in mixed practice since 2015. She was keen to focus on farm animal practice and in May 2021 joined our team, expanding it to 6 vets. Her enthusiasm for learning is matched outside of work by her excitement for exploring the local area, often accompanied by her Rough Collie, Lassie. She also enjoys Spanish cooking (for which the office are very grateful!).

Rachel Cookson

Rachel qualified in 2014 from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh. Before starting her veterinary degree she studied Veterinary Nursing Science with honours and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. She joined Camlas Farm Vets in April 2020 after working on the Lleyn Peninsula as a mixed practice vet for 5 years. When not working Rachel enjoys spending time with her young family, walking, watching both night and stage rallying and socialising with friends.

Rhian Evans

Rhi is a local girl born and bred, coming from just outside Meifod. She started work at Camlas when she was 17 years old and trained as a Powys Training student where she was awarded Student of the Year. After completing her administration courses she became a permanent member of the team as a veterinary receptionist. As well as helping to organise our veterinary calls and booking up visits, she is responsible for organising our farms' antibiotic audit data. Rhi was brought up on a smallholding where she now breeds Welsh Cobs. Outside of work she is kept very busy with her horses, dogs and hounds and enjoys going on a day's hunting. In 2014 Rhi completed an AMTRA Suitably Qualified Persons (SQP) course, which has helped her to give the best advice to farmers and allows her to prescribe certain categories of medications to farmers.
