Aileen Newman

Aileen joined Nicholsons in July 2023 and specialises in corporate and commercial law. She qualified as a solicitor in 2019. Aileen is primarily based in our Norwich office where she helps clients with a range of commercial issues, including business and company acquisitions and disposals, shareholder and partnership agreements, and terms and conditions.

Andrew Butcher

Andrew Butcher is Nicholsons' Head of Operations and Finance, playing a key role in the firm's management processes. Andrew's remit includes both strategic and operational input into delivering the firm's business plan, the development of our support teams and providing the key financial information for decision making and statutory reporting. Andrew joined Nicholsons in 2023, bringing twenty-years of experience as Head of Finance and Facilities for a large regional firm of Chartered Accountants. He completed both his accountancy degree and masters degree at UEA and gained his ACCA qualification in 2002. Andrew spent the following nine years in Practice Management roles within GP Practices. A devoted father and keen traveller, Andrew spends his free time playing tennis, guitar and as a volunteer editor and writer for an online newspaper for aspiring journalists.

Charlotte Elwell

Charlotte joined Nicholsons in June 2022 as a Paralegal in the Private Client department. Based in the Lowestoft and Norwich offices, Charlotte deals with matters ranging from Wills and Powers of Attorney to Probate and Estate Administration, having gained prior experience specialising in Probate and Estate Administration. Charlotte graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2018.

Hollie Laird

Hollie graduated at the University of Hull in 2016. In 2017 she relocated to Norwich and worked at a busy city firm before joining Nicholsons in July 2022 as a Conveyancing Executive. Hollie is based in our Norwich office and undertakes work on all aspects of Residential Conveyancing including freehold and leasehold sale and purchase transactions, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, dealings with registered and unregistered land. Hollie has extensive experience dealing with Newbuild purchases including Help to Buy.

Jade Tinney

Jade joined Nicholsons in May 2020 as a partner in the Commercial Property Department, having previously headed up the Commercial Department at a local regional firm. She qualified as a solicitor in March 2015. Based in Norwich but also working from our Lowestoft office, Jade undertakes a wide range of commercial property work including acquisitions and disposals, development, secured lending and landlord and tenant law. In addition, Jade deals with agricultural and rural property matters for our farming and landowner clients. She also advises charities and those in the not-for-profit sector. In the Legal 500 Directory (2020), Jade is described as being "the ultimate professional", with one of her clients commenting that they "have received excellent legal advice from [her] over the past years. She is incredibly professional and knowledgeable but remains both approachable and understanding".

Jennifer Lee

Jennifer Lee is an Associate specialising in commercial property. She advises on a range of matters including landlord and tenant, commercial leases and renewals and sales and acquisitions of a wide range of properties. She assists with the property matters arising from corporate commercial transactions and estate planning. As part of this work Jennifer also deals with the first registrations of property, secured lending and refinancing. Jennifer qualified as a solicitor in 2017 and spent several years before and after qualification working in Norwich for a leading commercial law firm before joining Nicholsons in 2019.

Joseph Long - CEO

Joseph Long is the firm's Managing Partner, having succeeded Mark Nicholson in the role in January 2022. Based in both Lowestoft and Norwich, Joseph specialises in corporate and commercial law. Joseph advises companies, partnerships and sole traders on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including business and company acquisitions and disposals, management buy outs, debt and equity finance, shareholder and partnership agreements, and general commercial contracts. Joseph has received praise for his corporate work in the Legal 500 directory, which commented that he "provides practical solutions to complex matters", and which recommended him for "complex corporate and commercial transactions". As part of his commercial work, Joseph also advises on a range of property matters including commercial leases and the sale and purchase of commercial property. Joseph qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and previously headed the commercial department at a Norwich and North Norfolk-based firm, before joining Nicholsons in 2014.

Kate Duberley

Kate joined Nicholsons in July 2022 as a Conveyancing Executive. Having graduated from The University of Law with honours in 2015, she completed her Masters in Law in 2020 whilst working at conveyancing firms in Norwich. Kate has experience in a broad range of residential conveyancing matters including freehold and leasehold sale and purchase transactions, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, dealings with unregistered land and new build properties.

Paul Hughes

Paul Hughes is a Senior Residential Conveyancer with many years' experience of the local housing market. Paul has extensive contacts with estate agents and property professionals throughout the area and maintains a thoroughly modern practice to the highest standards. Paul specialises in all areas of Residential Conveyancing and has particular expertise in acting for local house builders in relation to the setting up of residential building estates and subsequent sales of the new homes. A fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, Paul joined Nicholsons from school in 1984.

Rob Tiffen

Rob joined Nicholsons in January 2021 as a partner in the Litigation Department, having previously worked at leading national and regional firms. He qualified as a solicitor in September 2007. Rob works from both our Lowestoft and Norwich offices where he undertakes a wide range of litigation, including commercial contract disputes, shareholder and director/senior employee litigation, landlord and tenant, probate, insolvency and construction litigation. He also has a specialism in franchising. He acts for many of the leading businesses and private estates in the region. Rob is listed in Legal 500 UK 2020 as a Rising Star for commercial litigation in Norwich.

Sabina Haag

Sabina joined Nicholsons in March 2022 as a partner in the Litigation Department. She qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and previously worked at a regional Norwich-based firm. Sabina is primarily based in our Lowestoft office where she helps clients with a wide range of disputes including property, contract and probate disputes. Sabina acts for a range of clients from private individuals to leading regional businesses. Sabina is a member of the Property Litigation Association and has particular experience and expertise in property disputes including landlord/tenant matters, contested lease renewals, lease terminations, rent reviews, dilapidations, forfeiture, boundary disputes and restrictive covenants. Sabina has received praise for her work in the Legal 500 directory, which commented that she is "readily available and always helpful" and complimented her "efficiency and technical expertise".

Sally Riches

Sally Riches has been specialising in Wills, Trusts, Probate and Elderly Client matters for many years. Sally joined Nicholsons in July 2022 as a Private Client solicitor. Based in the Norwich office, Sally's expertise includes Inheritance Tax Planning, Wills, Administration of Estates, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection and Deputyship matters.
