ARCHITECTS PLUS (UK) - Key Persons
After joining Architects Plus (UK) Ltd as a graduate in 2001, Barbara worked steadily through the ranks to become a director of the practice in 2011. She has particular experience and expertise in housing developments, renewable technologies and sustainable design. Barbara has worked extensively with registered Social Landlords throughout Cumbria on new build, refurbishment and regeneration schemes. Following Carlisle's devastating floods of 2015, Barbara worked closely with a number of the major sports clubs in the city; firstly to re-instate their existing accommodation and secondly designing new and innovative, "flood resilient" facilities. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Barbara runs the youth teams of Carlisle Rugby Club.
Christian joined Architects Plus in 2008 and became a director in 2011. He has worked extensively for some high profile hotel and leisure developments throughout the UK and overseas as well as being responsible for some of the practice's award winning projects, including the RIBA Competition winning entry for the Ullswater Yacht Club. Christian is the current Framework Manager for our work with Cumbria County Council and also oversees the majority of the practice's work in the retail sector. As well as a successful career in architecture, Christian also pursues his passion for music and can often be seen, but mostly heard, when playing with his rock covers band "Mid-Life Crisis".
David joined the practice shortly after its formation all the way back in 1988. He became a director in 2005. In January 2021 he became a consultant to the practice. David continues working at a senior level laising directly with existing and prospective clients. Over the years David has been involved in a wide range of projects from Magistrates Courts to one-off private houses and just about everything in between. He has successfully delivered a number of large scale hotel and leisure projects including the Thorpe Park Hotel, Leeds and The Lakes Distillery, nr Bassenthwaite, Cumbria. David has also completed a number of new build and refurbishment projects for hotel operators throughout the UK, the Channel Islands and mainland Europe. Always eager to expand his horizons, you will often see David cycling across the Lake District National Park on any given weekend - as long as it's not raining!
