Originally starting out as a two man business founded by Andrew Shields and Phil Dartnall in 2009, Chapter Engineering has now expanded to a team of twelve and continues to go from strength to strength. After being made redundant at the beginning of the recession, we decided to use our wealth of tool making experience to set up our own business. After buying machine tools being sold off by our old employer, we moved into our first manufacturing unit in Ferryhill where we exceeded our target turnover by over 40% in the first year... Our core business area, plastic injection mould tooling, accounts for 90% of our turnover. This is mainly sourced from supply chains serving automotive, medical, white goods and packaging original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Work in these areas is being reshored to us at a rapid rate, due to our ability to compete with China and Eastern Europe on price and to offer a higher quality product faster than overseas suppliers...
