Aileen Shackell

Aneesa Aljahmi

Aneesa Aljahmi Administration Lead Aneesa is a HR/Administrative professional with extensive experience in both the public and non-profit sectors; having previously worked as a Senior Recruitment Advisor for NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership and as an Administration Manager for an arts charity, advocating for the creative and economic rights of the UK's ethnically diverse arts sector workforce. She is currently working towards her MSc in Human Resource Management.

Aycan Yasar

Job Titles:
  • EU Horizon Project Manager ( WP5 )
Aycan works as an EU Horizon Project Manager for the Sustainability Tool & Best Practice Guidance Development (Work Package 5) within the EU Horizon KitNewCare project. She has a background in sustainability and has been involved in energy efficiency initiatives, including funding the public sector to install green technologies. She also has experience in account management, collaborating with clients on the transition to electric vehicles. Aycan holds a degree in Geography with Economics from the London School of Economics.

Ben Whittaker

Job Titles:
  • Sustainable Healthcare Delivery Lead / AHP Lead
Ben works across the SusQI and Specialties programmes to support and supervise fellows/scholars, and deliver Green Team competitions and SusQI training. He oversees the Green Walking in Mental Health Recovery initiative and some of the CSH networks, including Allied Health Professions Susnet. Ben was the initial project lead for the World Federation of Occupational Therapists sustainability working group. In 2021, he was one of the first cohort of Chief Sustainability Officer's Clinical Fellows at Greener NHS. Ben also works as an occupational therapist in mental health settings.

Catherine Richards

Catherine Richards SusQI Programme Lead- Academy and courses Cath leads the SusQI programme for the SusQI Academy and courses/ education. She launched the Academy for CSH and is developing the service to provide the biggest benefits to members. Cath has undergraduate degrees in Human Psychology BSc and Occupational Therapy BSc. She has worked in the NHS within adult community mental health teams as an Occupational Therapist before moving into roles within Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement. Catherine has completed the IHI Improvement Coach and Improvement Advisor training.

Chris Naylor

Job Titles:
  • Policy Lead
Chris has a background in health policy and research and is passionate about creating sustainable health and care services that are resilient for the future. He is a Senior Fellow at the health policy think tank, The King's Fund, where he continues to work part-time, and has an MSc in public health. He is an experienced facilitator and coach.

Dan Loveard

Dan Loveard Green Space for Health Project Lead Dan is an experienced community lead having spent a decade managing and delivering a diverse range of environmental and health projects across the UK. He comes to us from Warwickshire Wildlife Trust where he played an active role both operationally and strategically in bringing about nature's recovery and connecting people from all walks of life with nature.

David Cameron

Job Titles:

David leads the Education and Training team and coordinates strategy for workforce development. He has over twenty years' experience in professional education, and previously worked as Assistant Director of Professional Development at the Royal College of GPs. David holds a doctorate in education, with a focus on mentoring and professional identity construction.

Dr Emily Parker

Emily is a paediatric doctor based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. She is currently undertaking a clinical fellowship with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health focused on education and advocacy for clean air. Emily was a CSH Paediatric Sustainability Fellow in 2022-23. During her CSH fellowship she co-designed a new hospital greenspace with children, researched medicine carbon footprints, and delivered sustainability education.

Dr Grace Singleton

Grace is a GP registrar based in the North East of England. She graduated from Glasgow University in 2012 and after initially training in general medicine moved to the GP training scheme in 2018. She is a Green Champion for the Faculty of Sustainable Healthcare in the North East and is a co-chair of Greener Practice North East.

Dr Hayley Pinto

Hayley Pinto is a consultant addiction psychiatrist who leads our Net Zero Leadership training and sustainable healthcare courses. Hayley has a degree in psychology and completed general practice training before pursuing a career in psychiatry. She has 30 years' clinical and teaching experience in the NHS and publicly funded services and is a member of Health for XR (link is external)(link is external) (link is external), Psych Declares (link is external) and a speak for Greenpeace UK (link is external).

Dr Kathryn Speedy

Kathryn is a higher trainee in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, based in South Wales, and a Health Education and Improvement Wales Sustainability Fellow. Having always had a love and concern for the environment, in 2020 Kathryn applied for an RCPsych Green Scholarship and joined the RCPsych Planetary Health and Sustainability Committees and EcoCAMHS groups. Kathryn is also a member of Green Health Wales. Kathryn's main areas of interest are raising awareness and education for healthcare professional's about climate, nature and well-being; delivering more sustainable mental health services and incorporating nature-based therapies into clinical care.

Dr Kirsty Magee

Kirsty is a junior doctor based in Cornwall, currently working in respiratory medicine. She recently undertook a master's in Environment and Human Health, focussing on user perceptions of the health and environmental impacts of e-cigarette use. Her particular interests are sustainably integrating climate positive healthcare into the NHS, and the commercial determinants of health. She has a keen interest in teaching having set up a COVID relief teaching programme in 2020 and enjoys collaborating to improve ideas in clinical transformation.

Dr Philippa Clery

Pip is a Psychiatry Trainee in North Central London and an Academic Clinical Fellow at University College London. She has been involved in Sustainable Healthcare Education and teaching Sustainability in Quality Improvement (SusQI) since 2019, working with the CSH to integrate SusQI teaching for medical students into the medical curriculum at the University of Bristol and in the Severn Deanery for Foundation Doctors. She is also is involved in climate activism and is the Education Lead on the Royal College of Psychiatrists Planetary Health and Sustainability Committee.

Dr Rosie Spooner

Dr Rosie Spooner is a Paediatric Trainee (St5) in Severn Deanery who has taken up the post of QI Education Fellow at CSH from 2020-2021, working with universities and postgraduate education programmes to support the integration of sustainable healthcare into Quality Improvement teaching. She comes from a background in environmental activism and previously established a hospital allotment society whilst a medical student in London.

Dr Stacey Harris

Stacey is a paediatrician and Welsh Clinical Leadership Fellow in Sustainable Healthcare 2021/2022. She has an enthusiasm for quality improvement (QI) work and a keen interest in Medical education, in 2019 she co-founded a paediatric medical education podcast called DragonBytes. Dr Tamsin Ellis

Tamsin is a GP in London who helped design and write the sustainable primary care course. She is a director and co-chair of Greener Practice (the UK's primary care sustainability network). She has previously worked as a primary care net zero clinical lead for North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) and has worked with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), Health Education England (HEE) and Greener Practice to deliver primary care planetary health training. Dr. Frances Mortimer

Job Titles:
  • Medical Director
Frances is responsible for strategic development of CSH's clinical transformation programmes, including Sustainable Specialties and SusQI, and has a lead role in the European KitNewCare project in sustainable kidney care. Frances designed CSH's Principles of Sustainable Clinical Practice and the SusQI framework for incorporating sustainability into quality improvement in healthcare. She previously trained and worked as a doctor in the UK National Health Service.

Duncan Mackay

Job Titles:
  • Head
Duncan Mackay has recently retired as Head of urban and peri-urban environments at Natural England. He also formerly led the agency's Natural Health Service and Walking for Health programmes. Since 2018 he has been an elected member of the Council of the National Trust and is a Fellow of the Landscape Institute and the Salzburg Global Seminar.

Gill Manning

Gill Manning has over 35 years experience of negotiating in the pharmaceutical industry as both a Business Manager and Scientific advisor, and is a graduate in Medical Biochemistry. Gill is a highly skilled communicator and a certified trainer of the Harvard Negotiation Project.

Harriet White

Job Titles:
  • Woodland Creation and Tree Planting Project Manager
Harriet started at CSH in August 2023 and works on the projects of woodland creation and increasinh tree planting on NHS Sites across the UK. She has worked in the UK and in Gambia, West Africa, on agroforestry projects, with a focus on food security. Most recently, she has run a busy programme of woodland management, tree planting and conservation projects for The Conservation Volunteers, Essex. She is passionate about the wellbeing benefits of engaging with the natural environment and is currently completing an MSc in Agroforestry and Food Security.

Hattie Attwell

Job Titles:

Hattie is the EU Horizon Project Manager for Organisational and Workflow Optimisations (Work Package 3) within the EU Horizon KitNewCare project. She has a BSc in Geography and a Master of Laws in Health, Law and Society from the University of Bristol. Hattie has previous experience working in governance, risk management, and patient safety for organisations including reproductive choice charities and private healthcare providers.

Hazel Walsh

Job Titles:
  • Clinical Transformation Programme Manager
Hazel manages the CSH SusQI and Specialties programmes. She develops and manages projects, helps partners work effectively with the team, manages and recruits staff and builds funding applications. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Osteopathy and worked as an Osteopath for ten years before moving into project management and physical activity promotion for health.

Helen Sullivan - COO

Job Titles:
  • Chief Operating Officer
Helen manages the finance and operations of CSH and in support of the Trustees, assure good governance. Having previously led the international health and wellbeing charity, Breathworks; operationally managed the University of Manchester's Innovation Centres and worked in Corporate Planning for Leeds NHS Foundation Trust, she brings a wealth of operational and strategic expertise to CSH. In 2023 she completed an MBA with a specialist focus on lean innovation for the social impact sector.

Ingeborg Steinbach

Job Titles:
  • Lead Sustainability Analyst
Ingeborg leads on and has developed the specialist area of carbon modelling and triple bottom line analysis in healthcare as our Lead Sustainability Analyst. Inge holds a Master's degree in Analysis for Healthcare Decisions at the London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene. Ingeborg also advises on sustainable food. After a first degree in nutrition, she worked in an Integrated Rural Nutrition Programme in Zambia.

Jacqueline Cutting

Job Titles:

Jacqueline is a fundraiser with extensive experience of the third sector. She worked for Oxfam for 10 years, managing the organisation's Trusts and Institutional funding, and as a freelance fundraiser. Most recently she set up fundraising for an Oxford-based theatre, and advised a national charity on fundraising for dementia care before joining CSH

Jessica Rhys-Griffith

Jessica Rhys-Griffith is a Leadership Coach working with female Executives and Business Owners. Prior to this she was Chief Operating Office at an International Development Consultancy. She has extensive experience in leadership and management, business planning, development and implementation of strategy for operational management and development.

Lucy Brown

Job Titles:
  • EU HORIZON Clinical Delivery Lead
Lucy joined us at CSH in March 2024 as the Clinical Delivery Lead for the KitNewCare, part of the EU key funding programme for innovation and research to tackle climate change and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Lucy is dedicated to enabling and leading sustainable change in healthcare. Lucy is a registered Children's nurse and an award winning senior clinical leader having held a number of Director of Nursing strategic posts across our health systems notably during the pandemic. Lucy has an MSc in Critical Care Nursing specialising in Paediatrics where she was awarded the Dorothy Clarke award for the most outstanding thesis for reducing barotrauma in intubated PICU patients. Lucy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to support CSH to deliver it's mission to revolutionise healthcare delivery for a more sustainable future. Lucy loves trail running, being outdoors particularly by the coast. She has four beautiful children and lives with her partner in Dorset.

Michael Huxley

Michael is CSH's Communications and Marketing Director. He is responsible for developing the CSH brand and implementing strategic marketing plans for the whole organisation. With a clinical background in emergency nursing and travel medicine, Michael also has extensive experience in brand management and content marketing campaigns for international brands and charities all over the world.

Michael Smeeth

Michael has had a wide-ranging career in healthcare business development, communications and corporate affairs, immediately prior to joining GE he ran a consultancy specialising in corporate and business development. He also previously was head of UK Healthcare for Fleishman Hillard International, Managing Director of Good Relations Healthcare, a Director of a London NHS Trust and ran Campaigns & Marketing for a major UK Trade Union.

Mike Tomson

Mike is a clinically-retired General Practitioner in Sheffield. He is a medical educationist (formerly with HEE), a coach, the Director of Greener Practice, is involved in teaching sustainability to postgraduate GPs in Yorkshire, and works on sustainability with RCGP.

Natalie Oman

Natalie administers the CSH education projects. She worked for several years in homelessness services and is involved in climate justice activism.

Neil Ingram

Job Titles:
  • Woodland Creation and Tree Planting Technical Officer
Neil started as Woodland Creation and Tree Planting Technical Officer in August 2023, and brings a decade of conservation forestry experience to support CSH's delivery of Defra grant funded tree planting on the NHS Estate. He has a Master's degree in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources.

Nick White

Nick White Nature Recovery Ranger, Liverpool Nick has over 25 years' experience in countryside management and community engagement. He's worked at both a strategic and operational level, leading nature conservation and community engagement projects across urban parks, hospital grounds, countryside sites and woodlands, including two SSI Nature Reserves. He joined CSH in September 2022 and is responsible for delivering a programme of work which helps improves biodiversity and the health and well-being of staff and patients across Liverpool Royal University Hospitals three main sites at Aintree, Broadgreen and in the city centre.

Nuala Hampson

  • Pharmacy Lead and Senior Educator
Nuala Hampson is a pharmacist and educator. She sets strategy for sustainable pharmacy initiatives and facilitates the Net Zero Leadership training and sustainable healthcare courses. Nuala has over 20 years' experience of clinical pharmacy in primary care and over 15 years' experience in postgraduate pharmacy education. She is a member of Pharmacy Declares (link is external), a group of climate-conscious pharmacy professionals in the UK and joint lead of the Greener Primary Care Pharmacy Association (link is external). She co-chairs the national Sustainability in Pharmacy Education (link is external) group.

Rachael Ward

  • Sustainable Networks and Communities Manager
Rachael manages our volunteer network co-leads to drive sustainable change to international healthcare, on a variety of networks across our platform of over 6,000 community members. She has a background in Earth and Ocean Science BSc and Marine Biogeochemistry MScR, with a focus on climate change. Rachael previously worked for the University of Bristol as a Laboratory Research Technician on marine related climate change projects, and as a Green Labs Project Officer on a green initiative to reduce the carbon footprint of over 900 labs.

Rachel McLean

Rachel McLean SusQI Programme Lead- Competitions and specialties Rachel leads our Green Team Competition and Green Specialty Challenge work, developing the services and approach to give the biggest impacts to patients, staff, NHS and planet. Rachel has degrees in psychology and speech pathology. She previously worked as a speech and language therapist in London Hospitals, specialising in neonatal therapy and parent coaching.

Rachel Stancliffe

Rachel has a Human Sciences degree (Oxford) and a Master's degree in demography and epidemiology from the London School of Economics. She worked in public health initiatives in the UK, Georgia and Kazakhstan before helping to develop The Cochrane Library during the first decade of its life.

Rosie Hillson

Rosie joined CSH in May 2021 as the carbon modelling assistant, with a focus on calculating the carbon impacts of healthcare organisations, clinical pathways, and medical equipment. She has a Masters degree in Environmental Consultancy and previously worked within the NHS delivering sustainability improvements.

Sara Lemaitre

  • COMMUNICATIONS and MARKETING LEAD
In 2022, Sara volunteered for CSH for the first time. Six months later, she became an official member of our team as a communications assistant, and now she oversees marketing and communications projects for several teams and departments. Prior to joining joining CSH, she worked across several countries, spending time teaching languages and helping international companies and media with their outreach and communication plans. With a passion for health and wellbeing, she encourages access to nature and engages in eco-therapy programmes everywhere she goes. She has degrees in Communications BA, Governance for Sustainable Development MA, and Herbal Medicine ND.

Sarah Jordan

Sarah Jordan Green Space for Health Programme Director Sarah's background is in environmental psychology, exploring the relationship between people and our natural environment. She has experience at a director level in both environmental and healthcare organisations, formerly as one of the founders and director of Hope for the Future, a climate and nature communications charity that supports communities to influence and achieve change. Sarah is passionate about the need for environment and healthcare sectors to work together for the benefit of people and our planet.

Shabin Muhammed Namban

Shabin Muhammed administers the Volunteers Programme and provides online support for CSH courses and networks (link is external). He holds an MSc in Global Prosperity from University College London and a BA in Economics with a Minor in Development and Sustainability from Azim Premji University. He previously worked in impact assessment, research, and management.

Siobhan Parslow-Williams

  • QI Education and Evaluation Lead
Siobhan works within the SusQI programme as a delivery expert in the SusQI Academy and Green Team Competitions. With her background in Nursing research she leads the evaluation of our SusQI work. She was integral to our SusQI Education project and manages our relationships with Academic partners. She is a registered nurse with a background in emergency nursing, primary care, clinical research delivery, management and teaching. Siobhan graduated from the NIHR Advanced Leadership Programme in 2019. She is the founder of the grass-roots movement Parents for Future in Norwich and also co-founded Eco Action Families.

Stefi Barna

Syed Emdad Hussain

Job Titles:

Syed supports the SusQI and Specialties programmes through operations, administration, marketing and project management. He draws on his experience in administration, project management, strategic planning, and operations management- having held roles as officer for Birmingham Children's Trust and Assistant Manager of New Roots - a CIC that provided services and projects to young people and adults. Syed is actively involved in setting up community initiatives and advocating for transformative changes in his local community.

Una Devlin

Una Devlin Green Space for Health Communications, Marketing and Engagement Lead Una brings a diverse set of skills to her role as Communications, Marketing, and Engagement Lead for the Green Space for Health programme with a varied background in communications, community engagement, and creative learning. She has worked for organisations including the BBC, the NHS and a wide variety of social inclusion projects in the charitable sector. Her expertise lies in strategic content development and creation, video production and copywriting.
