Kerry Brown

Job Titles:
  • Associate Director - Permanent Recruitment Division
I started my career within the health and social care sector as a Care Co-ordinator in an assessment centre for adults and children with learning disabilities. The role appealed to me as I have a brother-in-law with Downs Syndrome and was keen to learn more about the challenges faced by people with learning disabilities. I enjoyed engaging with the clients and felt passionate about making a difference in people's lives, but I also wanted to work in a faster-paced environment which led me towards a career in recruitment. My first recruitment role was as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant in a Legal recruitment Company, which I did for over a year, and although I enjoyed the role, I missed working in the health & social care sector. In 2004 I took a change of direction and took a job as a specialist care Recruitment Consultant, recruiting for Homelessness, Drug and Alcohol and Domestic Violence services. This was a role I felt would combine my 2 passions, recruitment and the health & social care sector. Throughout my time in this role, I recruited a wide range of care professionals including Social Workers, Allied Health Professionals, Care Assistants, Support Workers, Registered Managers and most recently Executive level roles. I have been involved in the implementation and management of 2 master vendor contracts for large National Health & Social Care providers, both supplying 1000 hours of temp support staff on a weekly basis. I love my job and can't see myself doing anything else. There is nothing better than finding the right person for a role and making my client's life easier, then calling a candidate to offer them their dream job and they are over the moon. All this whilst ultimately improving the life of someone who is vulnerable, it really is the best job in the world. I have now moved to Vetro to specialise in permanent recruitment for Support Workers, Managers and Senior level vacancies.
