Alison Stott

Before too long, Alison Stott Solicitors outgrew their Elvet Bridge office and relocated to Reform Place on North Road. The practice was expanding rapidly and new support staff were employed along with a second solicitor, Kathryn Cooper, who remains a consultant to this day.

Angela McGurk

Angela joined the firm as a trainee in 2005 and became a director in 2019. Since qualifying Angela has specialised in all aspects of family law including divorce, separation, financial matters, private arrangements for children, cases involving domestic violence and cohabitation cases. Angela is a member of the Law Society's Children Law accreditation panel and can therefore represent children in care proceedings. Angela is a keen advocate and frequently appears in courts across the North East.

Christopher Noon

Christopher Noon graduated from King's College London in 2000 and the following year graduated from Durham University becoming a secondary school teacher. Having worked as a teacher for a number of years Chris decided to retrain to become a solicitor and having graduated from Northumbria University in 2006 started working in Family Law, Housing Law and Criminal/Prison Law. Chris is also an active member of Tees Valley Law Society and was President in 2017. In 2020 Chris was elected to the national Law Society Council and currently sits as one of the Northeast representatives. He is a father of two and in his spare time enjoys cooking, binge box set viewing and if you must do exercise, cycling.

James Cooper

Director James Cooper joined us as a trainee in 2008 and now specialises in private client and conveyancing work. James advises on a range of wills, probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney matters and helps clients to plan for the future. James also maintains a buoyant conveyancing caseload.

Kathryn Griffiths

With over twenty years' experience, there are not many conveyancing issues Kathryn has not seen before. Kathryn is proud to have built a loyal client base, many of whom return to her time and time again which is testament to her dedicated approach to completing matters swiftly and efficiently.

Katie Cooper

Joining us in 2019 having spent 11 years at a top 20 law firm, bringing with her a wealth of expertise Katie advises on all aspect of residential conveyancing for individuals and investors. Katie also advises on wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Phil Kay

Phil joined the team in June 2021 from a Top 20 UK law firm in Newcastle. He specialises in a wide variety of property transactions with over 10 years of experience, ranging from multi-million-pound transactions for FTSE 100 listed companies to residential and commercial conveyancing. Phil has particular expertise in residential development and has acted for major UK housebuilders Bellway, Persimmon, Barratt and Taylor Wimpey as well as a number of regional SME housebuilders. He has experience in complex development acquisitions and sales, as well as site assembly and sales. Phil is an approachable and deeply practical lawyer and always aims to give clear advice as quickly as possible. He adopts a proactive approach to all of his transactions to drive them forward as quickly as possible.
