Chen-Yuan Wang

In 2001, Chen-Yuan Wang received a diploma in Building Engineering Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, after completing the Drafting Certificate Program at Kwantlen University College in 1999. Chen joined AAAI in 2009 and brings to the firm a well-rounded background in drafting and technical support. She has experience in the preparation of detailed design and working drawings for single family, multi-family and commercial projects.

Emily Kearns

Emily is a registered Architect in British Columbia and managing partner at the firm of Ankenman Associates Architects Inc in Surrey, BC. She received a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies from Dalhousie University in 2002, and a Master of Architecture degree from the same University in 2005. Emily has worked on a variety of projects and tasks while at AAAI, including master planning, design guidelines, custom single and multi-family housing, as well as commercial, industrial and most recently, the firm's affordable housing projects. In 2016, she received the Fraser Valley Commercial Design Award for ‘Best Multi-Family Development' and Urban Development Institute's ‘Best Multi-Phased Community in BC' award for River's Edge, a 50-acre master-planned community in Chilliwack BC. She was part of the project team that received the same award from UDI in 2007 for Garrison Crossing, a 150-acre parcel also in Chilliwack. Both projects were commissioned by Canada Lands Company.

Lance Peters

With over twenty five years of experience in the architectural industry, Lance Peters has been able to work on all aspects of the business. From laying out gridlines to getting final occupancy of a building, Lance spends much of his time focusing on drawing production as well as contract administration.

Mallory Sandhu

Mallory Sandhu attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology and studied Architectural and Building Engineering Technology. Mallory's work for AAAI includes design and working drawing submissions as well as 3D computer modeling and renderings for residential, multi-family and commercial projects. Her experience also includes providing estimates and quotes for commercial projects and compiling shop drawings for manufacturing.

Mark Ankenman

Mark Ankenman, Principal, Architect AIBC is the company's founder is responsible for client liaison, conceptual design and mentorship. Emily Kearns, Principal, Architect AIBC, MRAIC, is responsible for project management, design, and client communication. Project design and technical support are provided by the following individuals: Sandra Lee Architect AIBC; Mark Lesack, Architect AIBC, LEED AP; Wentao Zhou, Architect AIBC, CP; Lance Peters, Associate & Senior Technologist; Mallory Sandhu, Design Technologist; and Chen Wang, Technologist. Mark Ankenman has practiced in the architectural field since the early 1970's, with over 35 years as a principal architect. In this time he has been involved in more than 1000 projects of varying size and complexity in all market sectors. When the firm was first established, Mark was involved in all aspects of project delivery, but it was his passion for good design that brought continued success and growth to the firm. Mark remains involved with every AAAI project. He focuses on conceptual design, client liaison, and advancing projects through the ever changing and complex approvals process. Of special interest over the past 10 years is Mark's involvement as prime consultant for many major master planned communities. Sandra Lee

Sandra Lee received a Masters of Architecture in 2001 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sandra rejoined Ankenman Associates Architects Inc. in 2015 and has worked on a variety of projects and tasks in the firm, including master planning, design guidelines, the detailing and design of custom single and multi family housing, commercial and institutional projects, as well as graphic layout and design.
