Our Akoya oysters are grown in their native waters where natural pearls have thrived for countless generations. When the oyster is 1 to 2 years old, it is carefully seeded with an irritant to begin the pearl making process. Those oysters that succeed in starting the miracle of pearl formation, are carefully placed in a secured netted sack or cage. They are then attached to a stick or a float in native waters and are meticulously maintained for a period of 2 to 3years. During that time, these oysters are inspected and cleaned regularly and will have produced a pearl between 6mm to 9mm. They are then harvested. All parts of the oyster are utilized.
