Astra Business Solutions was first formed in May, 2005 by First National Bank, Hays, Kansas and Mel Waite, Ellinwood, under the name National Billing, LLC for the purpose of financing and servicing account receivable portfolios for business clients throughout the Midwest. They recognized that business owners needed financial services that could help them with cash flow issues, which are commonplace in businesses that extend credit to their customers. In January, 2013, the majority stock ownership was acquired by Astra Bank as part of the sale of First National Bank assets. Effective January 1, 2022, National Billing formally changed its name to Astra Business Solutions.
