Dr. Greg Parkhurst

Job Titles:
  • Founding Member of the Refractive Surgery Alliance
As a third-generation ophthalmologist, Dr. Brinton grew up witnessing first hand how restoring the gift of sight changed patients' lives. After serving as a physician in the European Theater of World War II, his grandfather, Sherman S. Brinton, MD, moved with his young family to St. Louis where he served as an ophthalmologist at Barnes Hospital. His grandfather subsequently participated in the first cornea transplant in his state. Dr. Brinton's father, Gregory S. Brinton, MD, is the founding partner of Retina Associates of Utah. Before becoming a refractive surgeon, Dr. Brinton worked as a consultant at the firm McKinsey & Company and served as a White House Intern. Dr. Brinton speaks fluent Russian. Dr. Brinton, along with Dr. Lance Kugler and Dr. Greg Parkhurst, is a founding member of the Refractive Surgery Alliance, a global organization comprised of 300 of the top LASIK eye surgeons from around the world and which also includes his fellow Dr. Luke Rebenitsch. The RSA's core principles of qualified, ethical physicianship, capital equipment and post-surgery longevity are shared by Dr. Brinton and represent the philosophical core of his St Louis LASIK practice.

At the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology he is a regular instructor for the Laser Refractive Surgery course, which instructs other physicians in LASIK and eye surgery technique. Dr. Brinton has taught multiple fellows in refractive surgery and is engaged by the manufacturers of five refractive ophthalmic lasers to teach and certify other doctors in their use. He serves as an Associate Faculty Member in Refractive Surgery for Faculty of 1000, a global peer review publisher that assesses the impact of scientific papers in the literature. Dr. Brinton has been an investigator or sub-investigator on eleven U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical trials, is an editorial board member for Ocular Surgery News, and sat for a term on the governing board of the New England Journal of Medicine. After fellowship training with Dr. Dan Durrie (Durrie Vision) in cornea and refractive surgery, Dr. Brinton joined an elite group of approximately a dozen full-time refractive surgeons in the United States who provide cornea-based and lens-based vision correction procedures. He is one of only a small number of LASIK eye surgeons in St. Louis and nationwide to limit his practice to vision correction surgery, offering the absolute latest, advanced, and proven technologies for personalized vision correction as part of his St. Louis LASIK practice. Brinton has over 100 scientific publications, abstracts, book chapters, and presentations to his credit in multiple languages and has lectured extensively across the country, globally, and at home in St. Louis on LASIK and eye surgery topics.

Dr. Steven Tersigni

When it comes to professionalism and experience, Dr. Tersigni is unrivaled. He is a fellowship-trained refractive surgeon and we're excited that he made the decision to join our patient care team. Dr. Tersigni's educational achievements are extensive. He graduated cum laude from the University of Oregon, and he obtained both his medical degree and a master's degree in public health at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed an internship at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, followed by his ophthalmology residency training at the Ira G. Ross Eye Institute in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Tersigni then completed a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery under the mentorship of world-renowned vision correction surgeon, Dr. Y. Ralph Chu, at the Chu Vision Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Here, he was trained in the full spectrum of vision correction solutions.

Emma Tersigni

Emma is our energetic 5-year-old that is always on the move. When she is not running, dancing and making friends with everyone she meets, she loves spending time with her siblings.

Henry Tersigni

Our 9-year-old, Henry, is quite the nature boy. Spending most of his time outside, he enjoys playing soccer, baseball, and there is no denying his love of animals as he is constantly finding new pets.

Jackson Brinton

Meet Jackson, our 12-year-old who loves to snow ski, swim and play soccer with his friends. When he grows up he wants to be an Olympic swimmer and study engineering.

Jami Brinton

Jami and I met during medical school. Prior to being a mom, Jami was a TV news anchor/reporter in Iowa City and Kansas City and co-chaired the initial campaign that elected Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. She traded in her microphone and high heels for a stroller and bag of soccer balls as we welcomed four children into our home: Jackson, Kate, Alexa and Thomas.

Kate Brinton

Our 10-year-old daughter, Kate, enjoys wakeboarding, classical piano, reading, swimming and anything involving science. Her dream is to be like her papa.

Kayla Tersigni

Kayla and I have been married for 13 wonderful years. Previously working as an educator, Kayla taught middle school and high school science as well as special education. She has continued to pursue education, and is currently working to obtain her PhD in Curriculum in tandem with raising our five beautiful children: Thomas, Henry, Nico, Emma and Simon.

Morgan R. Poore

Job Titles:
  • Staff Optometrist
Dr. Morgan Poore is Brinton Vision's on-staff optometrist, and her vivacious personality and commitment to excellence are a perfect match for our patient care team. From pre-treatment testing to post-operative check-ups, Dr. Poore's talents and skill are part of the comprehensive, world-class care Brinton Vision clients have come to expect. Changing lives through the gift of vision is a natural fit for Dr. Poore. She grew up a hop, skip and a jump away in Sullivan, where she developed a love for running and a passion for animals. She remained true to her Midwest roots in college, earning her undergraduate degree and meeting her now-husband Kris at Illinois College in west-central Illinois. While in school, she landed a job working part-time for an optometrist and fell in love with the profession. Above all, however, it is Dr. Poore's passion for helping others that drives her success. "There is something surreal about working with people who have been wearing glasses and contacts for years, or who have astigmatism and have often been told that surgery isn't an option," she says. "It's a fun feeling to see them after surgery and to see the kind of freedom they experience with clear eyesight. I look forward to helping change people's lives through the priceless gift of sight, and to watching the practice grow as technology advances." Dr. Poore continues to serve our local and international communities through volunteer service, and to create a life in St. Louis with Kris and their beautiful daughter, Rhyan, born in August. Baby Rhyan is the latest addition to the family "zoo," which also includes: the lovely Maya, a half mini-Maltese/mini-Eskimo dog; Cooper a lab/Aussie mix; Maggie, their calico cat; and young Charlie, an adorable tabby. In her spare time, Dr. Poore can be found running, kayaking, playing with her animals or at the baseball field watching her husband coach.

Nico Tersigni

Nico is a young, 7-year-old Picasso in the making. As the artist of the family, he loves to draw just about as much as he loves to ride his bike. Happy and carefree, he has not yet come across a swimming pool he does not like.

Simon Tersigni

Last but not least is our spunky toddler, Simon, 2. He is pleasantly talkative and will smile at anyone who looks his way. He cannot get enough of his siblings and will do anything to persuade them to read to him or play catch.

Thomas Brinton

Our youngest child, Thomas, 5, has a wonderful sense of adventure, riding his scooter, and playing with his toy dinosaurs. He enjoys making friends and is easily the center of attention wherever we go!

Thomas Tersigni

Meet our oldest son, Thomas. At 12 years old, he loves to read and learn about anything and everything. As the best big brother around, he loves making others laugh and enjoys running long-distance.
