Tricaprilin is an investigational drug containing a highly purified form of medium chain triglyceride (MCT). MCTs are a specific type of oil found in coconut and palm kernel and foods, such as goat's milk... Ketogenic diets (KD) have been used by many people for many reasons and some people with migraine have reported benefits, though the efficacy and safety of the KD have not been proven for migraine. The KD is also very restrictive and therefore difficult to maintain. MCTs such as tricaprilin also raise ketone levels, without the need for restricting food intake.
