Adrian Watts

Chris Martin - Managing Director

I have more than 17 years' construction experience, covering hands on site, project and construction management on jobs ranging from the mega, such as Crossrail, to the big, such as concrete and steel frame buildings and rail, to small scale housing and groundworks. I became an apprentice carpenter for a house developer after leaving school and have subsequently worked across many sectors. I also worked in Australia on large construction projects. After gaining experience on the tools I worked my way up to foreman before joining the Aspin Group as a Site Manager in 2014. Ultimately I became a Programme Manager overseeing the delivery of all of Aspin's portfolio. I have a wide range of experience in roles including Site Manager, Regional Civils' Manager, Project and Programme Manager, working on contracts with a value of £17m. I hold an APM Project Management (PMQ) qualification and have a proven track record with heavy civils, housing, rail, piling (sheet, rotary, CFA and driven CHS for rail OLE foundations), drainage, earthworks, RC, steel frame and housing.

Craig Thomas

I have more than 18 years' construction experience working as a lynchpin on prestigious projects including Battersea Power Station, the M3 Smart Motorway and the Great Western Electrification Project. As Principal Contractor for Turner and Townsend at Battersea, I was responsible for the complete site set up of the project that comprised of reinforced concrete slabs, retaining walls, piling solutions and final fit-out. On the M3 project, I was Site Agent responsible for the installation of steel tubular piles, using a vibro-pile method, along the hard shoulder to form the foundation base for CCTV masts and smart technology. In Edinburgh, I was responsible from start to finish for the management and construction of a large steel frame accommodation block for 190 students - working for Hadley Steel Framing.

David Burns

I bring business, financial and process control to CGS. Having developed small and SME businesses across the financial, manufacturing and construction sectors I have the know-how to control growth. I'm committed to partnerships and dovetailing the customers' needs with our company strengths. I have an analytical and systematic method of working, which ensures problems are quickly understood and sensible cost-effective solutions found. As we grow, my experience of recruiting and developing people will ensure we continue to exceed our customers' expectations. I'm a specialist in unleashing people's potential at all levels of business during development, restructuring and acquisition integration. I have 20 years of project management experience - delivering projects from £150k to £3m using appropriate levels of control underpinned by Prince 2 practitioner qualifications and common sense. My roles have included: Operations Director at Ishida, a food packaging machinery business. General Manager at Qualitech Ltd increasing its turnover from £500k to £8m and its workforce from 10 to 45. Head of Quality, Transformation and Innovation at the Aspin Group - integrating four separate civil engineering companies across six sites. This involved major structural change, business planning and cost savings, systems integration and accreditation management for Network Rail and Highways England including Collaborative Working ISO 44001. I also have 35 years of experience in construction, manufacturing and financial services. I'm adept at understanding, planning, implementing and managing resistance to change. I have strong analytical and negotiating skills, and I'm an excellent communicator, motivator and mentor.

Nick Stowe

I am a highly experienced and professional Site Supervisor, with a firm focus on solutions and compliance, and a strong track record of successful delivery across many projects in the construction and rail industries. I have spent my entire professional career in the construction industry since graduating from Nottingham Trent University. My projects have included platform extensions (rail), electrification (rail), framework installation (civils), reinforced concrete framework (civils) and various piling jobs, both driven and bored. Clients have included Hochtief, Grahams, NWR, Sir Robert McAlpine, Tier 1 companies and local authorities. I have played rugby since the age of 11, and still play first-team rugby for Hemel Hempstead Rugby Club, and rugby league for Hemel Stags. Playing regular team sport has undoubtedly helped me to develop the sort of people skills that are necessary to manage site teams and issues.
