Carrie Zhang

Carrie focuses on strategic patent portfolio development in various technology areas for both U.S. and foreign jurisdictions. She enjoys applying her technical background and legal knowledge to help clients develop effective patent protection to achieve their business goals. Carrie has experience in strategic patent procurement, intellectual property due diligence, as well as patent infringement and validity analyses. She has prosecuted applications for clients in a wide range of technology areas, including in the chemical, mechanical and electronics industries. In particular, she has prosecuted applications relating to semiconductor fabrication processes, batteries, supercapacitors, medical devices, computer software, and optics. Prior to attending law school, Carrie was a process engineer at a major semiconductor equipment manufacturer in Silicon Valley. She graduated with honors from University of California, Berkeley in Chemical Engineering. Carrie earned her J.D. from University of California, Los Angeles.

Catherine Lee

Catherine focuses her practice on intellectual property and patent prosecution/strategy in various technical areas with an emphasis in software and computer science. Catherine has experience working with various types of technology, including social networking systems, machine learning, enterprise data protection/storage systems, video coding, data analysis/processing, and user interfaces. She also has experience identifying expert witnesses for various inter partes review (IPR) proceedings. Prior to attending law school, Catherine worked as a system integration developer at Samsung SDS and as a law clerk in the Intellectual Property Group of Kim & Chang in Korea. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Symbolic Systems and a minor in Computer Science. Catherine earned her J.D. from University of Southern California.

David S. Barnhill

David's practice focuses on patent procurement and strategy in various technical areas. Some of his core areas include social networking systems (content recommendation, live streaming, image processing, data compression, encryption, UI, etc.), autonomous vehicles, telecommunication, image processing, AR/VR, animation rendering, business intelligence systems, medical devices, and RF/digital circuits. He genuinely enjoys all technical areas and have assisted clients obtain patent protection with a wide variety of inventions ranging from childproof medicine containers to pseudo-quantum computing systems. Additionally, David's practice focuses on privacy and data security concerns. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional / US (CIPP-US), he helps clients comply with ever-changing regulatory landscape in the field. Prior to entering law practice, David worked as an embedded system engineer at General Electric for 5 years. In his engineering role, he helped General Electric launch its first, and successful, laser-based moisture analyzer. Today, David effectively combines his technical expertise and legal experience to assist his clients protect their valuable ideas, domestically and in foreign countries. David earned his law degree from Boston University. He earned his bachelor's degree in computer engineering from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. David is fluent in English and Korean.
