Charles honed his dentistry skills in the Army, taking care of our soldiers at home and abroad. Now he's brought his talents to his new home: Cheyenne Cañon.
Meet the man who started it all. Dr. Dobbin has cared for four generations of Cheyenne Cañon residents.
Dr. Dick Dobbin grew up in western Kansas. After attending the University of Kansas School of Engineering, he served in the Army. Dr. Dobbin later attended the University of Nebraska Dental school before moving to Colorado Springs with his wife and practicing as an associate with Dr. Robert Chambers.
In 1965, Dr. Dobbin opened his own practice in the old Southgate Shopping Center. After almost 25 years, he moved his practice to its current location on Cheyenne Boulevard. His daughter, Dr. Monica Dobbin, would join him in 1997.
Dr. Dobbin treated 4 generations of patients over the course of 53 years before retiring in 2018. He left the practice in the capable hands of his daughter Monica, Dr. Charles Sabadell, and Dr. Samuel McNickle.
Over the course of his career (and into his retirement!), Dr. Dobbin has volunteered his dental services in India, Nepal, Samoa, Haiti, and many other countries. He's looking forward to more travel, both for pleasure and to continue serving, as well as more time with his family. He has two children, Derrick and Monica, and four grandchildren, Mia and Mikaela Dobbin and Sophia and Caroline Bricker.
Dr. Dobbin is confident that his legacy in the Cheyenne Cañon community will live on through his daughter, Dr. Sabadell, and Dr. McNickle.
In 1997, Dr. Dobbin was thrilled to be joined by his daughter Monica. Together, they took care of their neighbors in Cheyenne Cañon until Dr. Dick Dobbin retired in 2018.
Dr. Monica Dobbin continues her father's legacy today along with Dr. Samuel McNickle and Dr. Charles Sabadell.
Monica grew up and raised her family right here in Colorado Springs. She is proud to continue her father's legacy as Cheyenne Cañon's family dentist.
Dr. Monica Dobbin grew up here in Colorado Springs, graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1988. She obtained a BA in Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1992.
Monica took a year off to travel to New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, and Nepal. She and her brother met up with their father, Dr. Dick Dobbin, in Nepal while he was providing much-needed dental care for the Nepalese.
After returning home, Monica attended and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in 1997.
Dr. Monica Dobbin is married to Tony Bricker. They have two lovely daughters, Sophia and Caroline. She enjoys traveling, running, hiking, biking, skiing, and spending many weekends at her daughters' swim meets.
Dr. Samuel McNickle grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma for his undergraduate degree, finishing at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He was very involved with the American Student Dental Association, and he mentored younger dental students.
Sam's love of Colorado began as a boy. Every summer, his family spent a month in a small Colorado town. Sam developed a love of hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and skiing… hobbies he continues to this day!
Sam's wife Calli, a Challenger Middle School Spanish teacher, also loves living in Colorado. Sam's oldest brother Zach is also a dentist, and fortunately for us at Cheyenne Cañon Dental, gave his little brother Sam a push in the right direction.
Sam vacationed in Colorado since he was a boy until one day he decided to stay. He loves the great outdoors and keeping your smile healthy.
