Brittany Friedman

Brittany is the Nursing Supervisor at CHIP of the Roanoke Valley and has been with the organization since early 2022. Prior to joining CHIP, she passionately served the families of our area as a labor and delivery/postpartum nurse, as well as worked in the outpatient OBGYN clinic. Brittany is passionate about empowering men, women, and children to make choices that better themselves and their community.

Elizabeth Morley is the Family Case Manager Supervisor at CHIP of the Roanoke Valley. Elizabeth has been with the organization since 2007 serving as a Family Case Manager prior to moving into a leadership role. Elizabeth is passionate about supporting and educating children and their families.

Latonya Bolden

Ms. Bolden, has been the Director of Mental Health Services since November 2017. LaTonya received her BSW from Bennett College for Women (Greensboro, NC) and her MSW from Radford University. She is a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and utilizes psychotherapy and interactive psychotherapy (e.g. Play Therapy, sand tray therapy, and art therapy) to humbly guide children and their caregivers through understanding the connection of the mind and body and the impact on feelings. LaTonya is a member of the Association for Play Therapy and is currently completing training hours to soon be credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist. LaTonya is grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside the children and caregivers as they discover new and effective ways of meeting life's ongoing challenges and fostering a greater realization of their resiliency.

Matthew Thomas - VP

Matthew Thomas is a Vice President and Senior Lead Business Execution Consultant with Wells Fargo in the Chief Operating Office. He has been with Wells Fargo since 2011 and is a Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) with the International Association of Risk and Compliance Professionals (IARCP). Matthew is from Botetourt County, Virginia and attended Virginia Western and Roanoke College. Matthew currently serves on the Wells Fargo Virginia Public Affairs Council and Grant Foundation, the United Way Roanoke Valley Board of Directors chairing the Resource Development Committee and as a member of Audit Committee and Campaign Chair of the UWRV Centennial Campaign, the Board of Directors for CHIP of Roanoke Valley serving as the Legislative Affairs Chair and serves on the Executive Leadership Team for the Roanoke Valley Heart Walk. Previously, he served on the United Way Roanoke Valley's Emerging Leaders United Steering Committee and is a past member of the United Way's Community Investment Panel. In 2020, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award, Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of the Roanoke Valley, and in 2023 received United Way's "Lead United" award. As the past President and board member of the Wells Fargo Roanoke Valley Volunteer chapter, he's organized volunteers throughout Wells Fargo for many area nonprofits. Matthew is a previous "40 under 40" in the Roanoker Magazine and is a participant in the Leadership Roanoke Valley (LRV) program with the Roanoke Regional Chamber. Matthew and his husband Brian, owner of Wine Gourmet and Medmont Mercantile, live in Roanoke County with their son Thomas and two Golden Retrievers, Sonoma and Lodi. Matthew and Brian are previous foster parents through the Roanoke County Department of Social Services and support many area nonprofits advocating for children and families in the Roanoke Valley.

Rachel Hopkins - CEO

Rachel has been the CEO of CHIP of the Roanoke Valley since December of 2021. With over a decade of experience in the fields of strategy, leadership, creativity, and social change, Rachel empowers people and enables processes to create inclusive, engaged workplaces. Since moving to Roanoke, Rachel previously served as the Executive Director of the Science Museum of Western Virginia, as the Vice President of Development for Center in the Square and led the development of the popular Roanoke Pinball Museum. Before relocating to Roanoke in 2012, Rachel lived abroad for over a decade, both in Leipzig, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
