Coit Avenue Gravel Co. was founded in 1948 by Joseph P. Thome. He was joined in business by four sons, Dick, Joe, Bob, and Jerry. Originally starting with washed sand and gravel sales only until 1960. In 1960, they built a redi-mixed concrete plant, bought four redi-mix trucks and began delivering concrete.
