Alex De Piante

Alex De Piante joined dQ&A in 2021 and serves as Director of Research Solutions. He leverages dQ&A's syndicated and custom research services to answer clients' business needs. Alex has several family members who live with diabetes, which drives him to connect clients with the best research possible to drive progress in diabetes and improve the lives of patients. Prior to joining the dQ&A team, he brought this same level of care for clients to biotech and pharmaceutical organizations across the world as Director of Recruiting at a third-party recruiting firm. Alex graduated magna cum laude and with departmental honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in biology. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and everything to do with soccer.

Alice Morgan

Alice Morgan VP Qualitative Alice Morgan founded dQ&A's qualitative research practice in 2016, after her son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She has directed numerous diabetes-focused qualitative research studies since joining dQ&A, and is an expert in classic and cutting-edge qualitative techniques. Alice has published and presented on qualitative research and is a recognized thought leader in the field. An intuitive, flexible, and deeply empathetic moderator, participants in her sessions feel comfortable sharing sensitive information about living with diabetes. Previously, Alice worked for a boutique qualitative research firm, as an independent moderator, and for a full-service market research company. She has an MBA from Indiana University, a BA from Bryn Mawr College, and has completed RIVA and CPSI training. Alice lives in Michigan, where she and her husband own Satchel's, Ann Arbor's local BBQ joint.

Alison Zeng

Alison Zeng joined dQ&A as a Research Analyst in July 2022. She graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in Psychology and minors in Global Health and Asian Studies. At dQ&A, Alison works on the US Diabetes Connections product that provides insights on the lives of people with diabetes in the US. During her time at college, Alison researched ethnic and cultural variations in dementia family caregivers. She also conducted qualitative research on the experiences of health care providers who were involved in developing ventilator allocation policies during COVID-19. On campus, she volunteered at senior centers and served on her school's pre-health executive committee. In her free time, Alison enjoys thrifting, exploring new cafes, and hiking.

Carolyn Jillson

is responsible for the management, logistics, and recruiting for dQ&A's qualitative projects. Carolyn has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, including working as an analyst on tracking studies at Audits & Surveys and studying the effects of advertising on building brands at Hall & Partners USA. While serving as Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon teaching rural women basic business skills, she discovered how vital good health is to one's livelihood. Upon return from the Peace Corps, she managed qualitative research projects at Doyle Research Associates while earning a Master in Public Health from DePaul University. Carolyn also has a BS in Management and International Business from New York University, Stern School of Business.

Christianne Pang

Christianne Pang VP Research and Analytics Christianne Pang heads up the dQ&A quantitative research practice. In addition to overseeing all quantitative research, Christianne has published patient and prescriber preference studies across diabetes therapies. She has advised and assisted a broad spectrum of companies in diabetes therapies, ranging from early-stage ventures to Fortune 500 companies in medical device, pharmaceuticals and digital health in the areas of product development, forecasting and marketing. She has over 20 years of experience in market research spanning Europe and North and South America. Prior to dQ&A, Christianne led global consumer insights research and the mobile retail measurement businesses for Nielsen Mobile and consumer research for major mobile operators in Europe. Christianne holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from University of California, Berkeley.

Edem Asamoa

Edem Asamoa joined dQ&A as a Research Analyst in early 2021. He graduated from Duke University in May of 2021 with a Bachelors in Neuroscience and a Minor in Chemistry. At dQ&A, he is responsible for implementing and reporting on custom quantitative research projects. During his time at Duke, he completed a thesis on the feasibility of Brain Computer Music Interfacing (BCMI) and researched visual learning using EEG and psychometric approaches. Outside of the classroom, Edem was a member of Duke's inaugural class of SPIRE Fellows, served as a mentor for prospective Neuroscience majors, and performed as a signed artist for Duke's Small Town Records. In his free time, Edem enjoys exercising and listening to new music.

Emily Lin

Emily Lin joined dQ&A as a Research Analyst in July 2022. She graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in Health Science in May 2022. At dQ&A, Emily works on the International Diabetes Connections product that provides insights on the lives of people with diabetes in Canada and Europe. During her time at BU, Emily worked as a research assistant at Boston Medical Center, examining how yoga can help manage chronic pain in individuals on medication for opioid use disorder. She also served as a learning assistant for introductory chemistry classes and was a member of the BU Badminton Team. In her free time, Emily enjoys exploring parks, taking dance classes, and spending time with friends.

Emily Xu

Emily Xu joined dQ&A as a Research Analyst in April 2021. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2021 with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. At dQ&A, she helps run the US Diabetes Connections product which provides insights on US diabetes patients' experiences. During her time at Penn, Emily worked as a research assistant at the Clinical Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Research Initiative at Penn Medicine, where she studied quantitative brain imaging techniques in TBI patients. She also volunteered with hospice patients, was a photographer for the student newspaper, and served on the board of a children's nonprofit organization. In her free time, Emily enjoys trying new foods and spending time outdoors.

Erik Shoger

Erik Shoger joined dQ&A in 2016 and now serves as Vice President of Diabetes Technology. He has knowledge and expertise across the entire diabetes technology landscape, including glucose monitoring, insulin delivery devices, apps, and software. Erik also has extensive experience managing custom and proprietary research projects, as well as a broad knowledge of dQ&A's syndicated research services. Prior to joining the team, Erik was Vice President, Senior Analyst at Northcoast Research, where he conducted investment and market research on medical device companies. Erik was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of two, which made dQ&A the perfect match for his desire to provide a voice for patients like himself. Erik has an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University and a BA in economics from The College of Wooster.

Evelyn Cox

Evelyn Cox joined dQ&A as a Research Analyst after graduating magna cum laude from Colgate University with a major in Biology and minor in Sociology. At dQ&A, Evelyn works on the dQ&A International Diabetes Connections product that provides insights on the lives of people with diabetes in Canada and Europe. As an undergraduate, Evelyn worked in a genetics lab to explore the genetic correlates of depression and seasonal affective disorder. She also conducted epidemiological research on the association between mental health disorders and the gut microbiome . On campus, she worked as a teacher's assistant within the university's biology and global health departments and led contemporary dance classes. In her free time, Evelyn enjoys photography and volunteering.

Jennifer Klinger - CFO

Jennifer Klinger manages accounting and finances at dQ&A. She also supports HR and the sales team. She brings over 20 years of experience to her current role, from her previous positions as an accountant and then finance director at a non-profit community health center in southeastern Minnesota. Jennifer earned her CPA license after graduating with a BA in accounting from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. She lives with type 1 diabetes, and was a member of dQ&A's research community before joining the team. Her personal connection to diabetes and interest in improving the lives of all people with diabetes also led her to pursue a Master of Public Health degree from Benedictine University, which she completed in 2019.

Philly De Piante - CMO

Job Titles:
  • Director of Marketing
is responsible for dQ&A's marketing. She manages the development, implementation and execution of the strategic marketing plan to attract potential clients and retain existing ones. She also supports panel recruitment and engagement across dQ&A's patient and provider research communities. Philly graduated summa cum laude with a BSBA in Marketing and a minor in Italian from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While in college, Philly worked as a qualitative report writer for dQ&A and in client-facing marketing for her university. She was also a Women in Business Ambassador and President of the Italian Club on campus. Philly has been dedicated to advocating for those living with diabetes after being diagnosed with type 1 in 2015.

Phin Younge

directs research, analytics and panel management at dQ&A. Phin has over 15 years of experience in teaching and research management. Prior to joining dQ&A, Phin managed measurement science as well as key product development activities for a large practice group at Nielsen, including Nielsen's flagship Mobile Consumer Insights research program. He is named on a key patent at Nielsen focused on the methods and procedures for merging large data sets to achieve accurate measurement. dQ&A's resident polymath, Phin received his MA and BA in English from Stanford University.

Phyllisa Deroze

Phyllisa Deroze Director of Content Strategy Phyllisa Deroze joined dQ&A in 2021 and brings a decade of experience as a professor publishing extensively on health narratives in literature and popular culture. She became a diabetes lifestyle blogger and the founder of Black Diabetic Info after developing Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults in 2011. As a researcher and global diabetes patient advocate, she has offered lectures and presentations on the patient perspective in the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. Phyllisa is a Fulbright scholar to the United Arab Emirates (2013) and lived in Abu Dhabi for six years. She holds a BA in Creative Writing (Florida State University), MA in Africana Studies (University at Albany, SUNY), and MA and PhD in English Literature (Pennsylvania State University).

Richard Wood - CEO

Richard Wood founded dQ&A with Kelly Close in 2009. A recognized expert on the diabetes patient experience, Richard has presented patient research results at the FDA, Children with Diabetes, the DiabetesMine Innovation Summit, and numerous private dQ&A client events. Under his leadership, dQ&A researchers have authored four posters at recent ADA Scientific Sessions conferences. Richard was previously Vice President of Consumer Insights at Nielsen, where he directed consumer market research programs in the USA, Europe and Asia. Trained originally as an engineer in the UK and France, Richard has extensive experience from a 20-year career in consumer and industry research, mobile applications, and as a technology journalist, editor and publisher. Richard has an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

Sylvie Croteau

Sylvie Croteau joined dQ&A in 2019. Since her son was diagnosed with T1D in 2007, her work has focused on diabetes and healthcare research in both the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. Sylvie is based in Canada. She is a former volunteer and board member of Québec's Diabetic Children's Foundation and parental mentor for JDRF. Her career as a researcher spans more than two decades. Most recently, she ran her own successful qualitative research company, and prior to that she was Vice President at a Montréal-based market research firm. She has an M.Sc. from Université de Montréal in Communication Studies and has completed RIVA training. Sylvie is an accomplished moderator and is fluent in French and English. She has notions of speaking Spanish and Italian and is determined that one day she will be able to hold a conversation in Mandarin.

Tracy Bristow

Tracy Bristow joined dQ&A as Head of Syndicated Research in June of 2021. She is responsible for dQ&A's syndicated data services and brings almost 17 years of research experience to the team. Tracy did her undergraduate studies at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and then went on to receive her MBA in Marketing. She specializes in designing, managing, and analyzing longitudinal healthcare tracking studies. She brings her expertise to bear in data visualization and delivers actionable insights to clients that drive extraordinary results. Over the past two decades, she has been certified to teach Zumba, Cardiobox, and Pump fitness classes. In her free time. she enjoys teaching at multiple gyms, running, and constant home improvement projects.

Trevor Bell

Trevor Bell joined dQ&A in 2022 as Research Manager. Experienced in both quantitative and qualitative methods, his research is focused on assessing psychosocial factors affecting those with living with diabetes and using health communication to positively impact this population. This work is inspired by his own experiences living with type 1 diabetes. His research has been published in notable journals such as Health Communication, the Journal of Health Communication, and the Journal of Communication in Healthcare. Trevor earned his Ph.D. in health communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to earning his doctorate, he earned both his master's degree and bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. Usually accompanying Trevor everywhere he goes is his yellow Labrador, Splenda.
