Alana Cantu Fenti was born and raised in McAllen, Texas where upon graduating from Memorial High School she moved to San Antonio to attend the University of Texas. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. Her interests include horseback riding, working out, and spending time with her family and friends. Alana has two beautiful daughters, Jenna and Kendyll. She has a German Shepherd named Trinity, a Boston Terrier named Riley, a DLH named Sadie, a Quarter Horse named Jessie and Kendyll's pony is Beauty.

Dr. Jennifer Halberg was born in Houston, Texas, and moved to San Antonio in the early '80s.

Dr. Jessica Cantu

Dr. Jessica Cantu was born in the Rio Grande Valley, where her love for animals, big and small, developed at an early age. She attended Texas A&M University Kingsville for her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and later moved to Texas A&M University in College Station, TX to obtain her Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences. She subsequently earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Texas A&M University and is proud to call herself an Aggie Veterinarian! Whoop! Dr. Cantu's veterinary interests include radiology, emergency medicine, preventative care, and internal medicine. She is bilingual (English/Spanish), RECOVER CPR certified and Fear Free Certified. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and spending quality time with her husband and their two dogs. They also have two horses, Skyy and Turkey. She is very excited to be joining the Deerfield family and can't wait to meet your wonderful pets!

Dr. Karla Castillo

Dr. Karla Castillo grew up in Laredo, TX, where her love and passion for animals began at a young age and developed further while working as a technician at her local veterinary clinic. She attended Texas A&M International University for her undergraduate education and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University. She is proud to be part of the Class of 2022 Aggie Veterinarians - whoop! While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, her special interests include emergency medicine, internal medicine, and wound management. Her main goals as a veterinarian are to provide an inclusive environment for her clients while addressing their concerns and offering optimal care to her patients. Dr. Castillo has a Chihuahua named Phoebe and a terrier mix named Reni here in town. Back home in Laredo, she has several other pets, including an iguana named Esmeralda, a parrot named Lola, and a tortoise named Merlin. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, yoga, and gardening. Dr.Castillo is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is also currently learning American Sign Language. Dr. Castillo is excited to join the team at Deerfield Animal Hospital and eager to meet her new clients and their family pets!

Dr. Mia Provost

Dr. Mia Provost was born in Houston and grew up on an exotic animal ranch in East Texas until she was fifteen. Her family then relocated to the hill country where she attended high school in Lake Travis. Working on her family ranch and at her family veterinary hospital as a child, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. She attended The University of Texas at Austin for her Bachelor's degree and later moved to Southern California where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Western University in 2008. She worked as a mixed animal practitioner for four years, before deciding small animal medicine was her calling. Dr. Provost's veterinary interests include preventative care, dentistry, surgery, geriatric medicine, dermatology, and ophthalmology, but she is willing to tackle any problem! In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Dr. Neelesh Narurkar

Dr. Narurkar graduated from The University of Texas in 1995 and the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. He spent his first few years in a progressive equine and small animal practice in Washington State. Moving closer to home, Dr. Narurkar spent 16 years as a practice owner in Canyon Lake Texas, and San Antonio. He then spent 5 years in emergency medicine in south Texas, as well as Southeast Asia. After his varied career, Dr. Narurkar joined Deerfield as Medical Director in April of 2023. His interests included surgery, oncology, and preventative medicine. He has a keen interest in helping train the next generation of veterinarians and works closely with SVP's externs and new graduate programs. Outside of the hospital Dr. Narurkar is an avid cyclist, skier, and hiker. He lives in the heart of San Antonio with his wife Belinda, and his daughter Natalie when she visits from Seattle, and has 3 dogs and a cat that wandered off the streets and made themselves comfortable.
