Dr. Chris White

Chris White, Ph.D., founded White Labs in 1995, after researching and
developing a library of brewers' yeast strains from around the world.
Today, White Labs is well known as a highly respected quality producer
and supplier of brewing yeasts to the Micro-Brewing industry.
Mr. White received an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the
University of California, Davis, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from U.C. San
Diego. Chris is also a member of the Siebel Institute brewers' faculty.

Dr. Michael Lewis

Michael Lewis, Ph.D., professor emeritus of brewing science, has led the
brewing programs at UC Davis for more than 30 years. Throughout his
prestigious career, Dr. Lewis has authored over 100 scholarly papers and
co-authored the flagship textbook " Brewing." In addition, he has been
honored with the Award of Merit of the Master Brewers Association of
the Americas, is a senior member of the International Brewers Guild and
was elected as a fellow of the Institute of Brewing in London.
Most recently, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC created a
permanent display in its museum of American Culture recognizing Dr.
Lewis as the "Father of the Craft Beer" industry in America. The National Museum of American History features UC Davis Professor Michael Lewis. Dr. Lewis is widely regarded as the "Father of the Craft Beer transformation" in the American Beer Market.

Karl Ockert

Karl Ockert has a long and extensive career in the Brewing Industry.
After graduation from the Brewing Sciences program at UC Davis, Karl
advanced his professional training at Anheuser-Busch and as the craft
beer market grew, went to designing and building BridgePort Brewing,
the first craft brewery in Oregon.
More recently, Karl served as director of brewery operations at
Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon. Karl brings an extensive wealth of
knowledge and brewery operational experience which he has greatly
contributed within the HausCraft Standard Operating Procedures. Fur-
ther assistance in recipe development has greatly helped Hauscraft
brewing technicians. In 1996, Karl helped to design BridgePort IPA. This
IPA beer won two GABF gold medals as well as a gold medal in Interna-
tional competition. BridgePort IPA launched the NorthWest IPA style in
1996 which has today grown into the most popular craft beer style on
the market.
Karl Ockert has authored and published five books and papers with the
Master Brewers Association of America and teaches on the subject of
practical brewing and beer flavoring.
