GREENHILL VINEYARDS - Key Persons
Ben Comstock joined Greenhill in the spring of 2018 and handles Greenhill's wine program and the day to day operations. He most recently worked at Breaux Vineyards as assistant winemaker and Sunset Hills Vineyard as production assistant/tasting room manager. Passionate about winemaking for many years, Mr. Comstock also has a degree in filmmaking and digital video from the University of Arts in Philadelphia, which means he is always happy to talk shop about films.
Driving through the picturesque landscaped Northern Virginia wine country would leave quite an impression on anyone. Visiting a cluster of boutique wineries, complete with their friendly winemakers and staff, the beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, lush vineyards, and that sense of a simple, earthy lifestyle, is a feeling that made David Greenhill want to return again and again. Nearly a decade later, an irresistible opportunity presented itself; an exquisite property in the charming town of Middleburg became available on the market. Passionate about the blossoming and "still pure" Virginia Wine Country, he fell in love with this property and acquired the estate in May 2013.
Mr. Greenhill attended the United States Air Force Academy, earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master's in philosophy and theology from Yale University. An entrepreneur, he is partner in a satellite communications company providing services to business aviation, military, and government aircraft worldwide. Originally from North Carolina, David Greenhill has called Virginia home for close to 20 years.
A California native who grew up just a short drive from Napa Valley, Jed Gray has an bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara in history and a master's in modern European history from University of Maryland College Park. He developed a full-time passion for wine while working in a retail wine store in northern Virginia and managed the store's events department. Prior to coming to Greenhill, Jed was the tasting room manager for Breaux Vineyards and general manager of Big Cork Vineyards. He is passionate about family, wine, and food…the exact order depends on the day.
