Dermot Callanan

Dermot Callanan a native of Loughrea, Co. Galway joined the firm in 1996 following the completion of his B.Comm degree in NUI Galway during which time he placed 1 st in the KPMG B.Comm Awards. A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Dermot has more than 25 years' experience in advising clients from sole traders to medium and large organisations. He heads up our statutory audit department providing high quality audits with particular experience and expertise on charity and not for profit organisations, the food processing industry and the hotel and restaurant sector. Dermot's experience plays a key role in the audit process ensuring increased efficiency and control is an integral part of the audit engagement. He regularly performs risk reviews, appraises internal controls policies and procedures and reports to those charged with governance. He has assisted clients in implementing the Charities SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) and has lectured to the HSE Western Region Accountants Network on the area of Charity Accounting. Dermot has an in-depth understanding of the complexities and challenges facing SME and owner-managed businesses. He has built up considerable experience in a wide range of sectors including construction, hospitality and tourism, medical, legal, food processing, charity and motor trade. He advises on accounting, auditing, tax compliance, tax planning, financial management, banking, corporate restructuring and statutory compliance matters. Dermot has a strong interest in all sport. His family would have a long association with Galway GAA with his father serving as the Chairman of the Galway Hurling Board from 1979 to 1996 and the Galway club senior hurling cup is named in his honour. Having played hurling for many years Dermot now enjoys the game of golf.

Frank Fahy

Frank is our founding partner and a native of Galway. He has overseen the firm's growth and has helped it develop into one of the leading accountancy practices in Galway city. A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Frank is a renowned expert in strategic business planning with a wealth of experience in advising businesses and devising plans that have assisted clients in succeeding in reaching their organisational goals. Frank combines extensive technical knowledge with over four decades of actual business experience. Frank has guided a number of indigenous Irish start-ups from inception to being successful household names across Ireland, the UK and Europe. He has extensive experience with all regulatory bodies. He is involved in a variety of business committees and ventures across the country and has a deep understanding of the many challenges faced by every business enterprise on a daily basis.

Jonathan Colohan

Jonathan, a native of the Claddagh, Galway City is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Jonathan placed 3 rd in Ireland and 6 th worldwide during his final exams with ACCA. Jonathan has almost two decades of experience in the accountancy profession. He heads up our technical, advisory, corporate finance and company secretarial department within the firm. Jonathan has developed extensive experience across a broad range of disciplines but specialises in the areas of statutory audit, technical accounting, tax planning and compliance, corporate restructuring and corporate finance. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Jonathan trained in a medium sized firm in Galway City where he obtained extensive training and experience in all aspects of the accountancy profession working across a wide range of industries. Jonathan has held senior management positions both in Big 4 practice and large multinationals. Jonathan has a keen interest and an extensive working knowledge of the auditing and the financial reporting standards with significant experience advising clients on developing accounting systems, finance functions and preparing compliant statutory financial statements to meet their requirements in respect of FRS 102, FRS 105 and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Jonathan's advisory work spans a wide range of sectors and industries from hospitality and tourism to retail, construction, property, medical and manufacturing. As lead corporate finance partner he has a wealth of experience in dealing with all the major finance providers from securing finance for individual start-ups to devising, planning and executing multi-million restructuring deals for high-net-worth individuals and businesses. Jonathan is enthusiastic about fitness, an avid Liverpool fan and enjoys travelling when the practice allows him!
