Alice Avanian

In addition to being a founding member of the FLN, Alice is Vice President in the Goldman Sachs global investment research department. She was on the board of CFA Boston for 12 years, where as chair in 2013-14, she founded the Financial Literacy initiative. This is a community outreach program which strikes alliances with non-profit groups or with employers, leveraging their reach to access a wide variety of audiences and close the financial literacy gap. In addition to her role as co-chair at CFA Boston, she is also on the Executive Committee of the Boston Economic Club. Before joining GS, Alice held a variety of research management roles at Cantor Fitzgerald, Leerink Partners and Cowen & Co. Alice holds an MBA with distinction and a BS, summa cum laude, from NYU's Stern School of Business.

Barbara Mainzer

In addition to being a founding member of the FLN, Barbara is a consultant and speaker. She serves as Board Member (currently is President of the Board of Directors of CFA Society Uruguay and an Independent Board Member at AFAP Sura) and is a Member of the Future of Finance Content Council, the Professional Learning Design Council and the Financial Literacy Council. She is a columnist with El Observador and Canal 4 in Uruguay and ABC Color (Newspaper and TV) in Paraguay. Has been teaching in university for 29 years. She is currently is Professor, Wealth Management (MBA) and Director, Wealth Management (Executive Education), Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina).

Dr. Greg Filbeck

In addition to being a founding member of the FLN, Greg holds the Samuel P. Black III Professor of Finance and Risk Management at Penn State Behrend and serves as Director of the Black School of Business. Professor Filbeck has authored or edited 15 books and published more than 105 refereed academic journal articles. He is the former President of the CFA Society Pittsburgh and will serve as the President's Council Representative (PCR) for the eastern region from 2021-2023. He has a BS (engineering physics) from Murray State University, an MS in Applied Statistics from Penn State University, and a DBA (finance) from the University of Kentucky.

Gene Natali

In addition to being a founding member of the FLN, Gene is CEO and co-founder of Troutwood, a financial technology company founded out of the Carnegie Mellon University Swartz Center. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, board member of CFA Society Pittsburgh, and a part-time lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh. Gene is an award-winning author, and regularly key-notes investment and education conferences across the country.

South Cone

Former Director and Business Manager, South Cone, Julius Baer (2012 - 2015), Head of Julius Baer Advisory, Vicepresident and Sales Manager, South Cone, Merrill Lynch (2010 - 2012), Head, Global Investment Division - Trustee Directed Assets, Merrill Lynch (2007-2012). Barbara is a multi-lingual, highly motivated and energetic executive with extensive experience in finance and private banking working in the local market as well as international (Swiss and American) banks. She held various functional roles in private banking including serving clients, portfolio analyst, sales manager, fiduciary roles, business manager, and heading an office. She is also an economist with a postgraduate degree in finance (CFA Charterholder) and leadership studies at Harvard Business School.

William D. Krause

In addition to being a founding member of the FLN, Will is a Portfolio Manager in Northern Trust's Wealth Management practice. Over his career he has held numerous financial advisory roles, advising both private wealth and non-profit clientele on investment management, financial planning, and matters relating to trusts and estates. He is a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and sits on the Board of Directors of CFA Society Boston. He is a subject matter expert on sustainable investing. He is also focused on closing the financial literacy gap. He is co-chair of the CFA Boston Financial Literacy Initiative, a volunteer program that partners with local organizations to teach financial concepts to their constituents. Will is a graduate of Harvard University and is passionate about his service to the community. He is a member of the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee of the International Institute of New England (IINE). He also established IINE's investment fund and currently sits as co-chair of its Investment Committee. IINE is a 100-year old non-profit that creates opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed in their new environment in New England. Finally, Will is a member of the Advisory Board of Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art.
