FOUNDATION FOR SPECIAL SURGERY

The mission of the Foundation for Special Surgery is to provide high-quality, complex surgical care to enhance the well-being of patients across Africa. The Foundation is committed to increasing surgical expertise in Africa by enlisting the participation of surgeons across various specialties to provide premium care, skills transfer and education to benefit patients and the long-term sustainability of the health care system... Since 2004, FSS has been providing complex surgical care to children and adults with cancer and deformities from birth, trauma, war, and conflict in underserved communities around the world. Our work has taken us to several countries and patients in Peru, Mexico, Bangladesh, Liberia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda and Cameroon. The unmet surgical burden in these countries are high. For such patients and in these communities, the Foundation for special Surgery has been a life line, giving hope when there is no hope, and providing care where the expertise does..
