Dedric L. Bonds

Dedric L. Bonds, a native of Georgetown, SC, is a teacher at The Georgetown School of Arts and Sciences and the Managing Director of the Winyah Auditorium. Recently, he was selected as one of 25 teachers as a part of the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Teaching Institute. He has also served as the Chairman of the Georgetown County Democratic Party (2015 - 2017) and is a member of the inaugural class of the James E. Clyburn Political Fellows (2016). He received his BA degree in History from Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA. Later, he matriculated at Clark-Atlanta University, Atlanta, GA, in pursuit of the MA degree in History. Mr. Bond's professional interests are varied: he has worked as a political consultant, teacher, and an award-winning reporter. Mr. Bonds enjoys reading, cooking, music and family-time. He is a proud husband, father, son, and God-fearing community man.

Dr. Gary Gates

Dr. Gates has over 34 years of experience as a teacher and has been a secondary school administrator for 22 years. For eight years he was the director of the Philosophy of Science and Mathematical Logic concentration at Brown University. He also taught at Rutgers University and at Shanxi University in China. He has coached basketball and soccer, led five soccer teams to state championships and won the SCISA coach of the year award in 2006. Dr. Gates has spoken at several international academic conferences and published essays on the philosophy of language and the philosophy of science. He has taught Geometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus and Computer Coding, along with Algebra I-II, Ancient History, Senior Seminar, Physics and co-curricular classes in conjunction with Coastal Carolina on Logic and the introduction to Philosophy.

Dr. Rick Simmons

Dr. Rick Simmons attended Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, and the University of South Carolina, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 19th Century British Literature in 1997. His specialty is the British novel, and his favorite authors to teach are Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and the Brontës. Before coming to The Georgetown School he was the George K. Anding Endowed Professor of English at Louisiana Tech University, where his teaching, research, and service resulted in his recognition as the recipient of the University Senate Chair Award for Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service, as well as the Louisiana Tech Foundation F. Jay Taylor Teaching Award. At Louisiana Tech Dr. Simmons also served as Director of the Center for Academic and Professional Development, and as Director of the University Honors Program.

Frazier Patrick

Mr. Patrick has a Master of Science degree in Mathematics. Throughout his career, his major interests have been the application of Mathematics and Physics. Mr. Patrick got hooked on applied math in the 9th Grade when he made a radio transmitter and obtained his radio license. Years later he worked as a systems engineer designing large systems for Department of Defense and NATO. He has taught high school physics and coached high school tennis. He was a board member and officer of the Waverly Mills Homeowners Association and the Waccamaw Neck Community Association. He currently resides in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. He currently teaches Physical Science and Physics.

Lane Crosby

Born in Atlanta, Lane Crosby has called Georgetown home for the last 25 years. She has spent those years working extensively with young people of all ages in schools, in scouting, on the soccer field, and at church. Her passion for education led her to homeschool her now college-aged children for 7 years. As an undergraduate, she studied in England for a semester and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mrs. Crosby has served as president of the Winyah Master Naturalist Association, and she enjoys spending time on the water and playing with her golden retrievers.

Michelle Neubauer

Job Titles:

Dr. Neubauer has more than a decade of real-world experience in the sciences and has published scientific articles and spoken at numerous academic conferences. She was a teaching assistant at William and Mary, and has over 8 years of middle and high school teaching experience, which included the use of Project Learning Tree and PLT Greenschools! materials. She teaches World Geography, Earth Science, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry and AP Environmental Science.
