In 1906, the Glen Ellyn Hotel was struck by lightning. After this incident, members of the community recognized a need for a local fire department that could swiftly step in when there was a need. The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company was established in 1907 to protect the lives and properties of the Glen Ellyn community. Since then, the company has served the area, stepping in for everything from structure fires and motor vehicle accidents to community education and outreach... Becoming a volunteer firefighter with the GEVFC is an incredible way to give back to the community and be a part of something bigger.
