In addition to her legal experience, Ana completed a certificate course in Paralegal Studies (University of Houston- Clear Lake) on January 3, 2023. In her free time, Ana likes to hike, stitch/embroidery, listen to music, and have fun.

Charles Hunter

Charles Hunter was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, where he attended a private preparatory high school on a competitive scholarship and graduated 8th among 125 students. He attended college at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree in Finance with honors in 1977. Mr. Hunter continued his studies at UT Austin to earn a law degree in 1980, graduating in the top third of his class. As a law student, Mr. Hunter served as Note Editor of the Review of Litigation, as member of the Law School Standards Committee, and as law school delegate to the Constitutional Convention of the Students Association. Mr. Hunter worked as a law student clerk in the law firm of Waggoner Carr, who served in the 1960s as Texas Attorney General and member of the Warren Commission. Sworn in as a member of the California State Bar in December 1980, Mr. Hunter worked first with prominent civil rights lawyer Barry Fisher defending religious, speech and associational rights in state and federal courts including two trips to the United States Supreme Court in the context of public solicitation and reporting of donations, distribution of literature, and land use. He also represented artists and entertainers in copyright and contractual matters. Mr. Hunter next worked for business and insurance law firms prosecuting and defending securities, trademark, copyright and insurance matters. He drafted insurance coverage opinions and advised business organizations. He also represented criminal defendants in state and federal courts gaining valuable courtroom experience. Returning to Texas in 1994, Mr. Hunter worked as a management consultant advising large churches and related non-profits nationwide on executive compensation issues and on compliance with laws imposing excise taxes as intermediate sanctions on excess benefit transactions. Mr. Hunter next worked as a third-party manager of non-qualified executive benefits plans created by his employer for publicly-traded companies and other large employers in Texas and the Southwest. He left that position to serve as Vice President of a small, Houston-based real estate development firm. Mr. Hunter joined Woska & Hayes LLP in March 2005 as a securities arbitration attorney. From Houston-based offices, Mr. Hunter successfully represented numerous clients of the firm across the country in settlements, mediations and arbitrations concerning the suitability of investments held in securities brokerage accounts. Admitted in Texas, California and Washington, Mr. Hunter currently is of counsel to Reich & Binstock, LLP, where he partners with the firm and maintains his own practice to work on consumer class actions, mass actions, and financial and commercial litigation including business, health, homeowner and auto insurance disputes, pharmaceutical and medical device products liability, medical malpractice, automotive and marine products liability, commercial landlord liability, lender liability including derivative swaps, employment misclassification and retaliation, fair labor standards act violations involving payment of minimum wage and overtime, and consumer fraud including Telephone Consumer Protection Act violations, along with trademark, trade secret, and noncompetition litigation. Mr. Hunter advises Houston businesses and individuals in corporate and contractual matters and litigates their disputes with customers and competitors. Mr. Hunter has represented county governments across the nation in actions to collect deed recording fees and real property transfer taxes from an association of banks and title companies and from government sponsored enterprises. He continues the firm's successful representation of consumers in actions against auto insurers for their failure to pay diminished value losses on vehicles involved in accidents. He represents Texas health care providers in the Providers Track of cases in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Anti-Trust Litigation. He has served as interim co-lead counsel in the Yamaha outboard motor products liability litigation and currently pursues claims against other manufacturers of defective products. Mr. Hunter has held memberships in the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association ("PIABA"). In October 2007, he presented the following papers at the 16th Annual Meeting of PIABA: A Measure of Quality and Quantity-Market Adjusted Damages as Proof of the Broker's Failure to Diversify-A Causal Connection Between Malfeasance and Damages (co-authored with Lawrence Melton). This article was subsequently published in PIABA Bar Journal's Fall 2007 issue. Framing the Issues-Liability for Losses on Transferred in Securities Grounded on Non-Disclosure and on Violation of High Standards of Commercial Honor. This article was subsequently published in PIABA Bar Journal's Fall 2007 issue. Currently, Mr. Hunter is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Houston Bar Association.

David Cabrera

David Cabrera joined Hayes Hunter PC in 2021. In almost 20 years as a paralegal, David has worked in immigration, family, and personal injury law with a specialization in pre-litigation. David is fluent in Spanish and was previously certified as a legal interpreter and translator. He received his BS in Paralegal Studies in 2008 from National Paralegal College after obtaining his Paralegal Certificate in 2005. David enjoys his work as a paralegal and advocating for the little guy. David believes strongly in teamwork isn't afraid to work outside of his job description to ensure the best service to the client.

Donnell Colbert

Donnell "Donnie" Colbert joined Hayes Hunter PC in 2023 as an Associate Attorney, bringing a wealth of experience from his role as an associate attorney at a Houston law firm specializing in real estate litigation, probate, and business disputes. As a graduate of South Texas College of Law Houston, Donnie actively participated in the Black Law Student Association, the Sports and Entertainment Society, and AMICUS during his academic journey. Currently a member of BESLA, the Sports and Entertainment section of the HBA, and the LGBT Law section of the HBA, Donnie is dedicated to advancing his legal expertise. He is actively pursuing licensure in New York and California, expanding his reach to better serve clients with diverse legal needs. Notably, Donnie channels his passion for the arts into volunteer work with TALA (Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts), underscoring his commitment to both legal excellence and community service.

Jessica Chan

Prior to Hayes Hunter PC, Jessica worked as an associate attorney for a Houston law firm focusing on real estate litigation, business disputes and intellectual property registrations. Jessica graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law and obtained her Master of Law degree specializing in intellectual property and information law from the University of Houston. As a student, Jessica served as the managing editor of the Intellectual Property Law Journal and published an article titled, "The Change Needed to Protect Consumer Privacy from ‘Always On' Devices". She is a recipient of the Merit Plus Scholarship and the Cali Award for Entertainment and Media Law.

Julia Walsh

Julia joined Hayes Hunter PC in 2019 as assistant to Charles Hunter and was promoted to Administrative Manager in 2021. Prior to Hayes Hunter, Julia specialized in working with small and growing businesses, gathering experience in office administration, social media marketing, billing, and customer service. She applies her past experience by refining and streamlining processes to build the foundation for tomorrow's growth. Julia handles the office side of the firm, overseeing marketing, lead intake, billing, and software and hardware management, in addition to assisting with strategy, branding, and human resources. Julia is driven by excellence in customer service and believes in giving every client the best experience possible. She has furthered her knowledge of the legal field by attending Continuing Legal Education opportunities and earned a certificate in Discovery and Evidence for Paralegals. She also enrolled in a Paralegal Certification Course through the Center for Legal Studies which is expected to be complete by the end of 2021.

Katie Shelnutt

Katie Shelnutt joined Hayes Hunter PC in 2023 and works with the team as a paralegal. Katie also leads the intake department and is the face of the company for potential new clients. Katie has been enjoying learning the legal profession, especially family law. Katie attended Ole Miss and was previously enrolled in a nursing program in Georgia where she grew up. She relocated to Texas recently and lives with her sweetheart and their household of loving pets.

Lucas J. "Luke" Miller is dedicated to serving the Houston community when they need to navigate the stressful world of civil litigation. Luke joined Hayes Hunter PC in 2022 as an associate attorney, after obtaining his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center and working for a prestigious boutique probate litigation firm in Houston, Texas. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Luke published several essays, poems, and short stories after obtaining a Master's degree in English from the University of Houston. This work, along with subsequent people-facing careers, allows Luke to analyze a given case with both a heightened academic scrutiny and an intense desire to help others. In addition, Luke's previous experience in both the trial advocacy and criminal appellate worlds allows him to handle complex legal arguments and wield them effectively, whether in writing or in the courtroom. Luke's passion for advocacy has resulted in a drive to perform efficiently and effectively for his clients, constantly aiming for their best possible outcome under the circumstances.
