ALEX IRIAWAN IBARAT - Managing Director

As the Managing Director, Indonesia Business Unit (Shipping Logistics and Plantation) and Country Head, IMC Industrial Group, Alex is responsible for IMC investments with the objective in harnessing its core competency in building business growth in Indonesia. He is also the President Director and CEO PT. Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk. Alex was formerly the Group Chief Financial Officer of IMC Pan Asia Alliance Pte Ltd, based in Singapore. Prior to IMC, he was the CEO & President Director PT. Arpeni Pratama Ocean Line Tbk and PT. Goodyear Indonesia Tbk and gained his wealth of regional corporate experiences from Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam. Alex graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance and Operations Management and obtained his Masters in Marketing Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management. He also completed his Masters in Social Sciences in Applied Economics from the National University of Singapore and Masters of Science in Management of Technology from the National University of Singapore Business School.

Aurora Tankers

Singapore, 30 September 2020 - Aurora Tankers, a wholly owned subsidiary of IMC Industrial Group (IMC), takes delivery of the second of its eight newbuildings - Maritime Tranquility today. The remaining six newbuildings are scheduled to be delivered throughout 2021.

Chavalit Frederick Tsao is the Chairman of IMC Pan Asia Alliance Group (IMC Group) . He is the fourth generation to embark on his maritime career when he joined his family business at twenty years old. He ventured out on his own whilst serving IMC Group of companies, which roots can be traced to 1906. He started several companies, listed and then delisted two companies, and turned around a bankrupt Thai national shipping line successfully. At 37, he took over the helm from his father, Tan Sri Frank Tsao. Under his stewardship, he restructured the traditional shipping company into a global enterprise with diverse business interests in more than 15 countries. Today, the IMC Group has interests in four strategic business areas: IMC Industrial, a leading integrated maritime and industrial solutions provider in dry bulk shipping, industrial logistics, chemical transportation, shipyard and marine engineering, offshore assets and services, consumer logistics and palm oil plantations; Heritas Capital Management, an investment and fund management group; Octave Institute, a sustainable living lifestyle and real estate group; and AITIA Institute (AI) is a not-for-profit organization, that offers quality research based and personalized corporate programmes ready to tackle a spectrum of challenges faced by businesses. Mr Tsao founded Family Business Network Asia, a regional chapter of Family Business Network International to promote sustainable family business. He believes that family business can make a difference to the evolution of business in the new role of business in society. He holds dual positions as the Permanent Honorary President and Chairman, Ambassadors' Circle, Family Business Network International. Mr Tsao graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Science in Engineering (Industrial and Operations Engineering) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering).

As the China Country Head of IMC Industrial Group, Ms Qiu Peng is responsible for IG China's overall business performance and growth in China. She is also Head of the Group's Iron Ore Supply Chain, responsible for the strategic direction of iron ore supply chain, as part of the Group's dry bulk supply chain strategy. Qiu Peng has over 20 years of experience in IMC. She started her career with the Group in Qingdao, China, and has worked for the Group in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Lianyungang with a particular focus on project development and managing the Group's direct investments in China. She also sits on the boards of the Group's various joint ventures and wholly owned entities in China, while taking up managing director roles of various operating business units in China. Qiu Peng received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Business Administration from Shandong University in China, and Master of Science in Shipping and Logistics from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She also received Executive Education in Management Development from Harvard Business School in the United States of America as well as China Master in Practical Management from Renmin University in Beijing, China.

Prior to joining IMC, Mr Yang was a member of Office of the Chairman Stan Shih and Associate General Counsel at Acer Computers in San Jose, California and Taipei, Taiwan. He started his career practising law in Silicon Valley at the Cooley Godward and Brobeck Phleger law firms. Mr Yang is on the Asian board of Directors for Verlinvest (the family investment vehicle for the Belgium families who are major shareholders of AB InBev), World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council for ASEAN and the Family Business Advisory Committee of Insead. He is a member of the Pacific Pension Institute (San Francisco), the Council of Asian Corporate Governance Association (Hong Kong), and the Industry Advisory Council of NUS Business School's Centre for Governance, Institutions & Organisations.
