Brenna Guiney

Brenna Guiney is an Applied Sociologist and a Security Consultant, and leads the Social Impact Consulting department at ISP (Global) Pty Ltd, as well as running many of our large security infrastructure projects. Brenna holds a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) from the University of Sydney, a Diploma of Security and Risk Management, and is an active member of The Australian Sociological Association (TASA), the Crime and Governance Thematic Group, the International Association of Impact Assessment (IAIA) and has undertaken training with the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2). She is currently completing a Master of Social Change and Development at the University of Newcastle. In her experience as a Security Consultant within the industry, Brenna has also worked extensively with government, particularly in the correctional sector, solely running the largescale bed expansion of two major NSW Correctional Centres, from design, to tender and construction, as well as working comprehensively on the upgrade designs and expansions for eight other NSW Correctional Centres, two Public-Private-Partnership bids (one international bid), and one remote Correctional Centre head-end upgrade in the Northern Territory. Leading our Social Impact Department, Brenna utilises Applied Sociology to research, analyse, and inform social impacts that may result from changes - whether that be technological, security, environmental, and so on. Through specialised analyses, her work has the ability to reveal which individuals will be affected, how they will be affected, to what degree, and how we can better our solutions for the organisational goals of our clients. With a passion for security and society, Brenna utilises her sociological and social impact expertise to bring an understanding of how people will perceive, behave and respond to security and technology strategies to all of her projects. She has previously conducted extensive research into the sociological reasons behind criminal, antisocial and terrorist behaviour, and the implications that mechanisms of security have on individuals within social and corporate situations. Brenna has also conducted research into non-deviant behaviour and social phenomenon such as human interaction, stakeholder management and engagement, change management, social engagement with physical spaces, and social policy impacts on minority groups. Her Social Impact clients have ranged from leading Universities and financial institutions to major government departments, with her work guiding key operational and policy strategies

Sean Guiney

Sean Guiney specialises in developing innovative and effective Security and Technology Integration strategies across a range of industries including Government, Corrections, Airports and Critical Infrastructure, Finance and Banking, and Corporate and Commercial entities. With over 30 years' experience in the security industry and 25 years' experience in the Emergency Management Sector, Sean Guiney is greatly versed in design, construction and operational requirements. As such, his approach to projects is informed by his previous first hand experience as a Client with strict operational requirements, an integrator trying to achieve the best integration solution, and a Consultant acting as the advocate for the Client's needs. For over 25 years, Sean was an active employee of the NSW Fire Brigade with numerous years spent as a Station Commander in Fire and Rescue. In this role, he developed strong people management and organisational skills and the ability to work successfully in high pressure, high stakes situations. Through this experience in the Emergency Management Sector, Sean possesses first hand experience and a rare insight into intricate operational procedures and how security strategies might either facilitate or hinder operations. For 16 years, Sean was the owner and Director of The Assured Group, a successful security integration company that was acquired in 2007 by Schneider Electric (TAC). Assured was notable for its high quality integration work and its' client focussed philosophy. Included among Assured's long-standing client list were many Government departments and corporate clients. Clearly, Sean's unique career background plays a large role in his ability to understand issues from the perspective of the client, the consultant and the integrator. His experience as the operator and owner of a successful integration company enables him to understand the approaches of many integrators, how to negotiate with contractors during tender evaluations, and how to be an effective intermediary between the client and the contractor. Since the sale of Assured, Sean has been employed by a major, consultancy firm as Principal Consultant, working to provide innovative security solutions and business strategies for multinational corporations, State, Federal and Local Governments and High Security sites through his SCEC endorsement. With this wealth of experience, Sean has become widely recognised and respected as a leader in the development and implementation of security management strategies and the design of advanced, innovative electronic security and physical security solutions.
