KEARSLEY - Key Persons
Company founder and lead designer Heather Kearsley draws on more than 450 years of family history in England's weaving and woolen trades in order to realize her mission to create bed linens with a level of luxury and handcraftsmanship that have all but disappeared in the modern industry. With a father who was himself a menswear buyer and founder of a Munich-based bespoke suit making company, and a mother who is a third-generation high end seamstress with her own couture dress making business, Heather grew up immersed in sewing, fine craftsmanship, design and textiles. Her vision became clear while she operated her own interior design firm in the late 1990s. Too many of the gorgeous designer fabrics she was buying for duvets, coverlets and shams were too heavy, did not breath well, and required dry cleaning. In 2001, she and her mother, Gail Wolf, launched Kearsley Couture to create beautifully made bed linens for people who wanted more than the usual white or frilly linens. She went directly to Northern Italy with her ideas, and today, she is able to source-or in many cases create-fabrics that bring the Kearsley experience to life, always made ethically, sustainably and with an eye to the artisans who bring their personal magic to the product.

Heather holds a Bachelor's Degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo College of Architecture and Design and has Masters Studies in Interior Design from the International Academy of Design & Technology, Chicago.
Heather is an NCIDQ qualified interior designer and has also been a member of ICAA (Institute of Classical Architecture & Art) and DEMA (Domestic Estate Manager's Association), ASID, IIDA, BIDA (British Interior Design Association), Order of Omega, NEWH, US Superyacht Association, Victorian Society of America, FIDA and as a member of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, she is pursuing her Classical Architecture Certificate.
Heather Kearsley's direct ancestors owned a number of textile mills in Lancashire and Yorkshire, mainly around the Bolton area before emigrating to America in the late 19 th century. While the industry was notorious for its poor working conditions, Heather was struck by her discovery of one of her great, great grandfather's efforts to improve and standardize conditions for the workers in his mill. This legacy continues to inform Kearsley's emphasis on artisanship and sustainability. Kearsley linens are created by paying fair wages to a small group we care about greatly.
