Barbara Starr

NP Barbara Starr joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2008. Since 2009 she has been editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Dermatology Nurses' Association. Ms. Starr received her dermatology training directly from the department chairmen of both the UMass and Harvard Medical Schools. She provided dermatologic care for MIT's faculty, students, and their families at MIT Medical Dermatology for seven years prior to joining our dermatologists. Ms. Starr received her MSN from the MGH Institute of Health Professions and went to college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. "To work with and care for my patients, those whose families and friends I've treated for years, and those I'll be meeting for the first time; to bring my twenty years of experience in dermatology to bear to find and treat skin cancers and otherwise address concerns about skin-this is what makes me eager to get to work each day."

Dr. Alison Avram

Dr. Alison Avram joined Kuchnir Dermatology in December 2021. She was a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School and a dermatologist at MGH for 15 years prior to joining KDDS. She completed her dermatology residency at the Hospital of UPenn in 2000 and graduated from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She went to Princeton for college and is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. "As a medical dermatologist who spent years practicing in the University hospital setting, I have now found my true home at KDDS. Given the flexibility and support needed to practice as I am most comfortable, I am able to devote the time and energy it takes to give each patient exactly what they need. I am delighted that I now have the opportunity to give individualized quality care without compromise."

Dr. Carl Schanbacher

Dr. Carl Schanbacher joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2007. Dr. Schanbacher previously served seven years on the faculty at Harvard Medical School where he was the chief of skin cancer surgery at the Dana Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center. He completed dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic and a Mohs surgery fellowship at UCLA. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska and went to college at Colorado State University. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery.

Dr. Cheryl Levin

Dr. Cheryl Levin joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2023. She is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, completed her undergraduate degree at Yeshiva University, earned her MD at Stanford University and returned for dermatology residency to the University of Minnesota. She has taught medical students and residents since 2012. She is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. "I am excited and honored to be a part of this illustrious group of dermatologists at KDDS and their incredibly supportive and capable team where we learn from each other and from our patients in order to provide truly exceptional care."

Dr. Ganary Dabiri

Dr. Ganary Dabiri joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2021. Dr. Dabiri previously served as lead faculty member of the Roger Williams Medical Center Dermatology Residency Program. She completed her three year dermatology residency and two year wound healing fellowship at Roger Williams Medical Center where she was awarded Chief Resident. She received her MD and earned her PhD at Albany Medical College. Dr. Dabiri has published extensively in top rated dermatology medical journals and has won numerous awards for her cutting-edge research in dermatology. Dr. Dabiri is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, International Peel Society, and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Helena Kuhn

Dr. Kuhn joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2022. Dr. Kuhn attended college and medical school at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She trained in dermatology and served on faculty at Brown University, in Providence, RI where she directed specialty clinics in cosmetics, alopecia, and skin of color. In her eight years at Brown Dermatology, Dr. Kuhn authored scientific papers, trained dermatology residents and medical students, and facilitated clinical trials.

Dr. Jeffrey Bernhard

Dr. Bernhard joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2009. He retired from patient care in 2018. Dr. Kuchnir gratefully acknowledges his expert mentorship.

Dr. Karen Mitchell

Dr. Karen Mitchell joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2015. Dr. Mitchell provided care for over a decade at the Lahey Clinic and also at US Air Force Medical Centers where she served as Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Mitchell completed residency at the Wilford Hall Army AirForce dermatology residency. She received her medical degree from the US's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She went to Smith College. She is board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Kathy White

Dr. Kathy White joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2009. Dr. White completed internal medicine residency at the Lahey Clinic. She received her medical degree from the University of New England and went to college at Brandeis University. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has had extensive dermatology experience at the Lahey Clinic.

Dr. Kevin Donohue

Dr. Kevin Donohue joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2006. Dr. Donohue completed residency at the Roger Williams Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Dartmouth University and went to college at the University of Massachusetts. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. "Now in my seventeenth year at Kuchnir Dermatology, I am more confident and proud of the service we provide to the MetroWest communities than ever before. The expertise and experience of our clinicians compliments one another and our support staff thoroughly models our dedication to the kind and conscientious practice of dermatology."

Dr. Lisa Shen

Dr. Lisa Shen joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2019 while continuing her academic career at the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Shen completed a dermatology residency and pediatric fellowship at Northwestern University. She received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. She is board-certified in both dermatology and pediatric dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Louis Kuchnir

Dr. Louis Kuchnir founded Kuchnir Dermatology in 2001 after completing residency at the University of Massachusetts. He served as president of the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology from 2009-2015. He received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He earned a PhD in physical chemistry at Harvard University and went to college at MIT. He is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology. "I love seeing patients side-by-side with such outstanding colleagues. Their diversity of experience and interest is a source of constant stimulation."

Dr. Monika Berg

Dr. Berg joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2013. She retired from patient care in 2020. Dr. Kuchnir gratefully acknowledges her generous friendship.

Dr. Peter Schalock

Dr. Peter Schalock joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2016. He served 10 years at the Massachusetts General Hospital while on faculty at Harvard Medical School as Associate Professor. Dr. Schalock has lectured nationally and internationally on contact dermatitis, patch testing, and metal allergy and provides extensive patch testing services in the Kuchnir Contact Dermatitis Clinic. He completed residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University and went to college at Linfield College. Dr. Schalock is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American Contact Dermatitis Society. "I thoroughly enjoy working at KDDS with an amazing group of fellow physicians and office staff. I'm proud to be a part of a team who provides each individual help with their dermatological needs."

Dr. Thanh-Nga Tran

Dr. Thanh-Nga Tran joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2013. She continues to serve on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Tran completed residency at MGH after receiving her medical degree from Harvard while she earned a PhD at MIT. She went to college at CalTech. Dr. Tran co-founded the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center in 2009, which treats children with disfiguring birthmarks in Saigon. Kate Schoch

NP Kate Schoch joined Kuchnir Dermatology in 2018. Since 2014 she has been an Instructor of Dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Ms. Schoch received her dermatology training directly from Dr. Kuchnir and from the physician faculty at that medical school. She provided dermatologic care in private and academic practice for seven years prior to joining our dermatologists. Ms. Schoch received her RN and MSN from the University of Massachusetts in Worcester and went to college at Westfield State. "I love my job. I am constantly inspired by the quality of care, the dedication to our patients, and the collaborative spirit at Kuchnir Dermatology."
