Ashley Christensen

Ashley joined the Leduc team in May 2021 after completing her diploma in the Veterinary Assistant course. Growing up in Athabasca County, Ashley was able to pursue her interest with horses and other animals and bring her passion to help clients and patients in clinic. Dermatology is a particular interest. Currently, Ashely has one dog, two horses and 5 cats. She looks forward to riding on weekends, working out at the gym and art.

Corrie Opsahl

After graduating from Fairview Collage in her hometown, Corrie joined our team in October of 2012. Since being here Corrie has shown a love for all things tech including anesthesia, lab work and x-rays! Corrie brings the same love she has for her friends and family to her work by helping pets and feeling a great deal of compassion for their families. When she isn't overcoming new challenges at work, she's enjoying family time watching movies, and loving the lazy Sundays with her dog Star.

Deb Thorne

Our very own "Auntie Deb" grew up on a farm north of Rycroft here in Alberta. She then went to Fairview college and received her diploma in Animal Health Technology. Although she jokes with us for having at one point "owned a zoo" of animals at her house, now Deb's grandson keeps her busy instead! If Deb isn't cracking jokes and new sayings in the clinic, she's learning about anything historical. Deb has always loved being part of a medical team that helps heal our beloved companions and offering a helping hand on our orthopedic surgeries.

Debbie Pickett

The newest Deb to join our group, Debbie joined the team in September of 2021. She grew up in the great town of Ferintosh and went to school in New Norway. Debbie loves to learn as much as she can when at the clinic, and at home you can find her cozying up with a good book, tending to her plants or crocheting a new project for a family member. Debbie has so far loved her job and is looking forward to learning and helping as much as she can here at the clinic.

Dr. Alysson Macedo

Dr. Macedo was born in Brazil where he attended the Santa Catarina State University faculty of veterinary medicine. After moving to Canada in 2014, he later earned his Master's in Science from the University of Calgary. Alysson started working for Leduc Animal clinic in August 2020 where he explores his passion for internal medicine, surgery, and animal reproduction. In his spare time, Alysson enjoys camping, hiking, and travelling.

Dr. Deb Harrison

Dr. Harrison is a versatile Veterinarian. When she isn't working with the animals at the clinic, she's at home breeding and raising her own cutting horses. Dr. Harrison originally grew up on Vancouver Island and made a huge move to go to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatchewan. She joined our team in the spring of 2020, but still manages to spend time in Arizona with her husband Ron and their faithful travel companion Tucker, the little schnauzer.

Dr. Francine Chabot

Dr. Chabot grew up on a farm in southern Saskatchewan, where she spent many hours trying to tame the wild barn kittens. Dr. Chabot spent two and a half years working as an Animal Health Technologist before deciding to become a vet. She graduated from Ross University in 2011 and has been part of the Leduc Animal Clinic team since 2012. She has two house cats, Lola and Moe, and has a Chesapeake Bay retriever named Jenny. She enjoys gardening, reading, needlepoint, hiking and continues to try to tame the barn cats.

Dr. Heather Coates

Dr. Coates grew up in Spruce Grove and attended the University of Alberta where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Animal Health. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Calgary. Heather started working for Leduc Animal clinic in November 2021 where she enjoys surgeries and internal medicine. Heather enjoys all outdoor pursuits including backcountry camping, hiking, and cross country skiing with her partner and two dogs.

Dr. Ken Smith

Growing up in the rural east central Alberta community of Castor, Dr. Ken Smith has always had animals in his life. The farm dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, turkeys and honeybees he cared for instilled a love and appreciation of all living things at a very early age. In 1989 he completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, then graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1993. He then joined the mixed animal practices in Langenburg, Saskatchewan and Russell, Manitoba where he enjoyed working on many species before moving to Leduc in 1996 where he has been practicing at the Leduc and Beaumont Animal Clinics ever since. Dr. Smith believes the most rewarding part of his work is the many wonderful people he has come to know through caring for their furry family members and feels very fortunate to be serving people in this capacity. Away from the office, he enjoys camping and hiking with his family, gardening, music and badminton.

Dr. Tanya Groundwater

Dr. Groundwater was born and raised in Williams Lake, BC. She lived on an acreage and actively participated in 4-H with beef projects, as well as various executive positions within the 4-H club. She went to school at the University College of the Cariboo (now called Thompson Rivers University) for her pre-veterinary medicine courses. She was accepted to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and graduated in 2006. From 2006-2007 she worked as a mixed animal practitioner in Moosomin, Saskatchewan and then ventured west and worked in High Prairie, Alberta as a mixed animal practitioner from 2007-2012. In June 2012 she moved to Millet and started working with the Leduc Animal Clinic. Dr. Groundwater is married and has two very active children who keep her entertained. She also owns one cat and two dogs which adds to the very busy household. She enjoys living in Millet as she can now spend more time with her family. She also enjoys scrapbooking, card making, sewing, gardening and camping.

Dr. Zuzana Smith

Dr. Zuzana Smith grew up with several generations of German Shepherds and learned early on the value of animal companionship. She set her sights on a career in veterinary medicine and graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Dr. Smith started out in a mixed animal practice straddling the Saskatchewan and Manitoba border but moved closer to home when the first of her three children were on the way. During the early years of motherhood, Dr. Smith worked part-time for the CFIA and did some locum work for various small animal practices in the Edmonton area. Dr. Smith has now stepped back from clinical practice to work as the practice manager of the Leduc and Beaumont Animal Clinics. In her spare time, Dr. Smith likes to spend time with family, to knit or read with a cat or two on her lap, to bake and to tend her flower garden.

Jody deWaal

I have grown up in Leduc and my husband and I continue to live here and raise our three daughters. I have always had animals growing up so it is of no surprise to people that know me that I now have two crazy Havanese pups, Charlie and Sadie, fish, snails and whatever else I find interesting. I love reading and gardening and being a big part of my daughter's lives. You can find me outside in the warm sun with a book and a pup on my lap enjoying my flowers.

Kristin Johnson

Kristin graduated from the NAIT Animal Health Technology program and has been an AHT for 11 years. Kristin has 2 birds, 2 cats and a big St. Bernard. She enjoys gardening and sewing and spending time with her rambunctious son.

Kyla Wilkerson

I love doing dental cleaning and Anesthesia and that I get to work with pets and their people. In my spare time I enjoy: Cross Stitch, Reading, Horseback Riding and Crafts.

Leanne Borgstrom

Leanne has been with Leduc Animal Clinic since November of 1997. She grew up in Eganville, Ontario - about 1-1/2 hours from Ottawa. There she graduated from Opeongo High School and moved to Alberta in 1985. At the clinic Leanne enjoys her ability to help pets and their owners with concerns and looks forward to seeing something new each day. When she's not at work you can find Leanne curled up with a good book wither her senior cat Hefty, enjoying her backyard garden, camping in Alberta and visiting family in Ontario.

Liz Buchaski

Liz grew up just south of us in Millet, Alberta where she also graduated from Wetaskiwin Composite High School. The clinic welcomed Liz in August 2020 and we have appreciated her help with all the pets and clients on a daily basis. Liz is very interested in Nutrition and all the benefits food has on the body as well as different medical ailments and disease. She holds a special passion for education and hopes one day she can pursue this into a career where she can inspire others with her knowledge. Liz currently has 4 dogs and 4 cats living with her on the farm. In her spare time Liz enjoys knitting, reading, snowboarding and volleyball. She is also an excellent artist!

Natasha Bett

The beloved owner of Zoey (feline) and Joe (canine), Natasha loves to work with the nutritional and dentistry aspects of our clinic. She recently graduated and received her Diploma in Animal Health Technology from Lakeland Collage and joined our team in May of 2021, which is quite a drive from her hometown in Tomahawk. Natasha has long loved seeing her patient's growth and recovery through her job. At home she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Rebecca Sundby

We at the clinic were fortunate enough to have Rebecca on our team before she finished her Diploma in Animal Health Technology. She first joined us in September of 2020, and after getting her education at NAIT, she returned to join us full time in June of 2021. Rebecca has been a team player as she enjoys all aspects of her job and does it all with a smile. Rebecca enjoys visiting her parents and their 2 dogs, and if you don't catch her with a book in her hand then she is most likely rock climbing.

Ronda Ohlmann

Ronda graduated from Lakeland College and has enjoyed being a registered Animal Health Technologist for the past 16 years. She lives on a farm east of Leduc and in her spare time, enjoys spending time with her daughter, family and friends. Ronda also enjoys cooking and baking.

Samara Hughes

Samara grew up in the town of Devon right here in Alberta which eventually led her to join our clinic in September of 2020. Samara instantly fell in love with the team. She enjoys watching surgeries and learning from our amazing doctors and technicians. Samara brings a love for animals to the clinic, the same love she gives her 3 cats and 2 dogs at home. When she isn't with her clinic family, she's spending time with her own family going camping, quadding with her kids and making trips out to the mountains.
