In her HR consulting practice, Amber specializes in supporting organizations to create workplaces and cultures where people will thrive. As an HR Consultant for Mackoff Mohamed, Amber is responsible for managing the firm's people operations and developing culture and engagement initiatives to support the team.

Cathy Ham

Cathy's main areas of practice are insurance defence and general litigation. She also has prior experience in the areas of family law and child protection. In her work, Cathy takes a practical approach to law and uses rigorous factual analysis to optimize the range of options available to the client. Cathy was called to the bar in 2013. Prior to joining Mackoff Mohamed, Cathy articled and worked as an associate at a boutique litigation firm. Cathy obtained her Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto and her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria. Outside of her law practice, Cathy enjoys hiking, exploring new restaurants and listening to hits from the ‘90s.

Farzana Mohamed

Farzana's practice is focused on personal injury and insurance defence including cases involving multiple and complex injuries. Farzana assisted in the prosecution of one of the largest GST frauds in Canadian history and was recently involved in a multi-million dollar class action settlement. She has also worked on a variety of other commercial litigation matters including Society disputes and class actions. Farzana has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia and has extensive experience resolving matters by way of mediation. Farzana was called to the bar in 2001 and has been practicing general civil litigation since that time. After obtaining an honours degree in Political Science from McGill University, Farzana attended Queen's University and obtained her law degree from the University of Victoria. Outside of work, Farzana is a busy mother of two young children. She volunteers in the Ismaili Community and speaks fluent Gujarati.

Gale Kim

Gale practices in the areas of employment law, civil and commercial litigation, and insurance defence, and has appeared in all levels of court in British Columbia. Before joining Mackoff Mohamed, Gale practiced employment and labour relations law at a national law firm and was a judicial law clerk at the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta in Edmonton. Gale advises clients on employment law matters, including employee and contractor agreement drafting, employee hiring / termination matters, accommodation and human rights issues, and workplace policies. Gale also advises clients regarding their service agreements and waivers for a variety of industries, including the areas of education, media / photography, and automotive services. She is also a member of the Squamish Chamber of Commerce and works with many businesses in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Gale holds a BFA in film and video production (Honours) from New York University, a MFA in experimental animation from California Institute of the Arts, and Juris Doctor from University of Alberta. Outside of work, Gale enjoys being outdoors with her family and remains passionate about film and animation.

Harkamal Rai

Prior to joining the firm, Harkamal had a broad range civil litigation practice. Harkamal has represented clients in both the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia. She also has experience in alternative dispute resolution processes including mediations. Harkamal was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2013 after graduating from law school at the University of Victoria in 2012. She holds a Master of Arts in Asia-Pacific Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of British Columbia. Prior to studying law she briefly worked with the International Service for Human Rights in Geneva. Harkamal is past President and Director of the South Asian Bar Association of British Columbia. In her spare time, Harkamal enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends. She is also a self-proclaimed "foodie".

Iqra practices civil litigation with a focus on insurance defence and personal injury law. She has appeared before the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia. Iqra joined Mackoff Mohamed as an associate after being called to the bar in 2019. During her articles, Iqra obtained extensive experience in civil litigation, wills and estates, real estate, and family law. Iqra obtained her law degree from Thompson Rivers University in 2018 and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia. Prior to her law career, Iqra worked as a researcher for an international regulatory risk mitigation and anti-money laundering company.

Jacob Lord

Jacob graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. Prior to attending law school, Jacob obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia. Outside of practicing law, Jacob enjoys cycling, weight-lifting, and hockey.

Prior to attending law school, James graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While at McGill University, James was a member of the Men's Varsity Rugby Team. Outside of law, James enjoys playing hockey, running, hiking, and painting.
