Andrew has over 30 years of IT service design and delivery experience. Over 20 years have been dedicated to provincial health care, driving EHR and EMR enabling technologies, solutions and service. Andrew is a passionate advocate for advancing clinical and practice outcomes through health care IT.

Ariane Siegel - Chief Legal Officer

Ariane joined OntarioMD (OMD) as General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer in 2016. She has been recognized internationally by Who's Who as a global leader in technology law, privacy and data protection. Ariane provides OMD with strategic and legal advice. Through her leadership, OMD provides health system partners with a practical perspective on privacy and security from the lens of community-based physician practices. Ariane developed OMD's Privacy and Security Training Module for Ontario physicians and their administrative staff. Prior to joining OMD, Ariane supported global corporations with technology law advice as a Partner in Canada's largest law firm and from her own practice. She worked as a Senior Investigator for the federal Privacy Commissioner, Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice and as Constitutional Counsel to the Attorney General of Ontario. Ariane was part of the launch team for Richard Branson's Virgin Mobile Canada.

Christopher joined OntarioMD (OMD) in October 2022. Chris is recognized as a strong leader, strategist, and communicator. He was most recently a Special Advisor to the Office of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and served the Honourable Sylvia Jones and the Honourable Christine Elliott. Christopher was responsible for the provincial Digital First for Health Strategy. Chris has over 20 years of clinical and management experience. Before working with the Ontario Ministry of Health, Chris spent eight years with the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) where he was the Vice President, Quality, Performance & Accountability. Chris is a licensed physiotherapist in Ontario and has worked in management and as a clinician in Ontario hospitals and in a rehabilitation institute in Kuwait. He is a Certified Health Executive and member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Chris is also a lecturer for the Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

Debbie Fischer

Debbie Fischer is an Executive in Residence at the Rotman School of Business and has taught at the Rotman Executive Leadership Development Program at the University of Toronto. She consults in organizational change and transformation in health care and public sectors as an Executive Associate with KPMG. Debbie has a BSc (Neurobiology and Comparative Physiology) from McGill University and MHA from the University of Ottawa. She also holds CHRL and ICD.D designations. Debbie was most recently an Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Organizational Development at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. In this role, she spearheaded strategic partnership initiatives and programs that lead to the hospital's national recognition for organizational quality and wellness, diversity, and corporate culture. While continuing to maintain an active role at Mount Sinai, she took a three year secondment to Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as Assistant Deputy Minister, Transition to lead a major transformation initiative of the entire ministry. Previously, Debbie held a number of senior consulting and management positions in international professional services firms. She has extensive experience in strategy, organizational development and leadership, restructuring and integration, and change management. She has led innovative transformations in both the health care and corporate sectors. Debbie serves on several boards including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Joule, the Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace (OECM), North York General Hospital, the Health Care Advisory Council of GS1, and Prodemnity. Previously, she was the Chair of Plexxus, director on the Board of the Ontario Centres of Excellence, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Genetic Secretariat.

Dennis is committed to ensuring accurate financial planning and reporting and in improving business processes for an effective and efficient organization. Before coming to OMD, Dennis had over 30 years of experience working in the Ontario Public Service in a number of different capacities including community development, program and change management, human resources, and information technology.

Dr. Cynthia Walsh

Dr. Cynthia Walsh is a Radiologist working at The Ottawa Hospital. She has been on staff at the Ottawa Hospital as an Abdominal Radiologist since 2006. Dr. Walsh attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario, followed by a residency in medical imaging at the University of Ottawa and a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Stanford Hospital. Dr. Walsh has held two years as a board director for the OMA, in addition to roles as chair of the Diagnostic Assembly and a D8 delegate. She is honoured to be elected as a Board Director for OMD and pledges to work tirelessly to advocate for all Ontario physicians.

Dr. David Daien - Chairman

Dr. David Daien is a family physician at the Summerville Family Health Team (FHT). He has also been the Division Head of Primary Care at Trillium Health Partners. Prior to completing his medical degree at McMaster University, followed by his Master's Certificate in Physician Leadership at York University's Schulich School of Business, Dr. Daien was a biomedical engineer. Dr. Daien is an eHealth leader in Ontario. He is passionate about the potential for information technology and information management tools to transform community-based practice. His career has concentrated on the appropriate use of technology to achieve quality improvements in patient care. He is currently the Clinical Co-Lead of Connecting Ontario Greater Toronto Region (cGTA). This initiative is integrating health information across six LHINs and has over 30,000 users across multiple disciplines. In keeping with his interests in clinical integration and quality improvement, he is also a Co-Lead of the Southeast Mississauga Health Link. This Health Link has demonstrated improvements in patient experience and reductions in health system utilization and informed Health Link design across the LHIN. Dr. David Daien has served OntarioMD as a Physician Peer Leader and provided his input for the Physician Technology Roadmap, eReferral Working Group, eConsult Clinical Advisory Group and the ePrescribing Pilot Working Group. He also led the first EMR-OLIS (Ontario Laboratories Information System) integration pilot which informed the specification requirements that all EMRs must now meet to enable OLIS connectivity. Dr. Daien understands the challenges for the eHealth ecosystem, but also sees strategic opportunities for OntarioMD. These insights, as well as his strong leadership and governance experience, are important for the new OntarioMD Board.

Dr. Greg Athaide - Chairman

Dr. Athaide is an Obstetrician & Gynecologist in Whitby. He completed his training in Hamilton at McMaster University. He is the Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Medical Director of the Women & Children's Program at Lakeridge Health. Dr. Athaide has served on numerous advisory groups, working groups and committees for various associations and academic organizations. Dr. Athaide is the President of the Durham Medical Society and is a Board member of the Ontario Medical Association. Before medical school, Dr. Athaide completed a Masters in Health Policy at Queen's University. Dr. Athaide has had an affinity for information technology and started his practice with an electronic medical record. In 2013, his interest in the benefits of health information technology and his drive to improve the technologies for physicians led him to serve as a member of the OntarioMD Board. He brought a specialist's perspective and a health policy vantage point to the Board, his insight into the pressures faced by physicians, and his experience in realizing efficiencies for physician practices. As Board Chair, Dr. Athaide provides strong leadership to navigate the future of EMRs for patient care quality improvements. He has the skills to guide OntarioMD as a system partner based on an understanding of physician priorities that will help OntarioMD tailor its offerings to achieve physician and system priorities.

Dr. Kevin Glasgow

Dr. Kevin Glasgow is a board director, physician executive, consultant, and clinician with a background in the public, not-for-profit, and private health care sectors. Dr. Glasgow holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario (MD), Harvard (MBA), and Toronto (MHSc). He also holds a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene from the Royal College of Physicians of London (with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine of the University of London). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and the American College of Preventive Medicine, as well as a Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dr. Glasgow currently serves on the Board of Directors of Canadian Blood Services. His previous Board experience includes Habitat for Humanity Toronto, the Association of Local Public Health Agencies, and the Institute for Infection and Immunity of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. He has also served on the Governing Council of the Health Charities Coalition of Canada, in addition to numerous advisory boards. Dr. Glasgow served as CEO for Crohn's and Colitis Canada, the Cardiac Care Network of Ontario, the Brant County Board of Health (as Medical Officer of Health), and a biotechnology start-up. He was also Associate Vice-President for a major pharmaceutical company and Senior Medical Consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Dr. Glasgow has experience in digital health delivery providing executive oversight of North America's largest population-based, integrated cardiac registry; promoting computing to accelerate the drug discovery process; and as a Peer Assessor with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario exposed to a spectrum of EMRs. Kevin is married, and his interests include reading, tennis, gardening, and travel adventures.

Dr. Rachel Bevan

Dr. Rachel Bevan is a family physician with the London Family Health Team. Dr. Bevan has an interest in palliative care and care of the elderly. Prior to entering medicine, she completed a PhD in Computer Science at McGill University, focussing on statistical analysis and modelling of genetic data. She subsequently earned her medical degree at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Western Ontario. Dr. Bevan believes that a well connected and integrated electronic health record is key to increasing effectiveness of the health care system as a whole. She became an OntarioMD Physician Peer Leader to use her combined knowledge, skills and experience in information technology and family medicine to advise her peers to advance and optimize EMR use. She shares her extensive experience in data analytics and integrity to help her peers drive positive population health outcomes. Dr. Bevan also has valuable experience with EMR data migration and has been an EMR Data Migration Consultant for TELUS Health. This experience has given her a keen understanding of the need for relevant digital innovation to improve certified EMRs and with this need in mind, she has contributed to the design of specifications for the OntarioMD EMR Physician Dashboard. Dr. Rachel Bevan brings her knowledge of information technology governance (e.g., privacy and security, data management, data analysis) to the OntarioMD Board. She also brings her insights from physician and clinician engagement and change management to help OntarioMD develop strategic electronic solutions for service delivery.

Dr. Zainab Abdurrahman

Dr. Zainab Abdurrahman (she/her) is an allergist and clinical immunologist practicing in the Greater Toronto Area (mainly in Mississauga) and works at McMaster Children's Hospital in Hamilton. Dr. Abdurrahman is a graduate of the University of Toronto Medical School, and completed both her pediatrics training and subspecialty training in clinical immunology and allergy at McMaster University. Dr. Abdurrahman is an assistant clinical professor adj. of pediatrics and a staff member on the Clinical Immunology and Allergy Subspecialty Residency Training Committee at McMaster University. She is a member of the Black Scientists Taskforce on COVID-19 Vaccination Equity, the Black Health & Vaccine Initiative in association with BPAO (Black Physicians of Ontario), as well as a member of the OMA Civility, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. Dr. Abdurrahman was a collaborator with BPAO in drafting the position statement on Black Health & the COVID 19 vaccines. She has also been part of the OMA Joint Governance Transformation Task Force (GT20), and the OMA Council Governance and Steering Committee. Dr. Abdurrahman was elected as the chair and delegate for the OMA Allergy and Clinical Immunology Section in 2018 and continued in these roles until she officially joined the board of directors. Dr. Abdurrahman is an OMD Physician Peer Leader and a member of the OMD Educational Taskforce, and is a Fellow in Training (FIT) curriculum supervisor with the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CSACI).
