Bill Winters

Job Titles:
  • Attorney
Bill Winters was born in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the Tampa Bay area. He is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he received both his bachelor's and his J.D. As a student, Bill planned on studying to be a tax attorney, however, after learning more about the law and experiencing the thrill of litigation, he turned his focus to personal injury law. Bill has never looked back and is still excited to practice personal injury law and help injured parties find justice through the civil court system. Bill began his career as a personal injury lawyer at a larger firm, where he had the opportunity to help numerous clients who were being denied their due compensation because of overreach by insurance companies. This has propelled his work in the personal injury sector forward and continues to drive him to help those in moments of crisis. This experience also forced him to consider how to best serve his clients. He and Marc Yonker then founded Winters & Yonker in 2001 to provide a more personal experience for those who have been harmed or injured. Bill and Marc have crafted a unique, supportive environment at Winters & Yonker-one that always keeps the best interests of the clients in mind. A desire to truly serve the community and to assist those individuals who are experiencing some of the lowest moments of their lives pushes Bill to represent injured parties in negotiations and litigation. With over 30 years of legal experience and thousands of cases under his belt, Bill has taken the skills he learned at a large personal injury firm and translated them into the client-friendly model that is on display at Winters & Yonker. In addition to serving the community through the firm, Bill is passionate about giving back to the local community. He volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa and serves on their board of directors. In addition to his work with the Boys and Girls Club, Bill also partners with Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa during the holidays. The Winters & Yonker team proudly donate and distribute turkeys through the organization at Thanksgiving, helping feed families in the community. During the Christmas holiday, the team donates toys to the organization to ensure that every child receives a gift.

Marc Yonker

Job Titles:
  • Staff Member
Marc Yonker was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Easton, Pennsylvania, before settling down in the Tampa Bay area. As a child in Easton, PA, his father's best friend was a personal injury attorney. Marc appreciated the hard work he did on behalf of his clients and his steady work ethic. Watching his example, he began to consider a career in law as he was drawn to the idea of litigation for justice. That notion stayed with him as he grew up. Marc attended Thomas Cooley Law School in Lansing and earned his J.D. in 1993. Shortly thereafter, he was admitted to both the Pennsylvania and the Florida Bar. As a lawyer, Marc is compelled by a desire to seek justice for the injured. Marc has always focused on personal injury law and feels called to help those who are battling against large insurers for the compensation they deserve. Having witnessed the effects of injuries on countless lives throughout his career, he has become even more devoted to fighting for justice on behalf of the wronged. Before partnering with Bill Winters to found Winters & Yonker, Marc worked for a large personal injury firm where he worked with numerous clients in need of assistance and support in their time of crisis. Here, he saw an opportunity to further focus on the personal care of each and every client. This insight led to the client-oriented nature of Winters & Yonker. While the firm is billed as the "aggressive attorneys", the goal is to provide immediate support for injured parties and to help them fight their battles against uncouth insurers and other at-fault or negligent parties. Marc aims to help everyone he encounters, whether professionally or personally. Many of the clients he works with on a daily basis have been the victims of car accidents. He is aware that no one ever wants to be in a situation where they must contact a lawyer and does his best to make the process as painless as possible. With his dedication to the law and to his clients, Marc has had a positive impact on many Tampa Bay area residents.

Trevor Wade Colvin

Job Titles:
  • Partner
Trevor Wade Colvin was born and raised in a small town in Warren County, Pennsylvania. As a child, he often saw companies take advantage of people in his community. His pursuit of justice for the injured is powered by his desire to help individuals facing crisis. Trevor attended Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where he majored in political science. He was an exemplary student and a regular on the dean's list for his outstanding academic performance. Trevor was also a member of the political science honor society and received the outstanding senior award. He graduated summa cum laude in 2012. While working on his J.D. at the University of Toledo College of Law, Trevor threw himself into the practical side of the law. Rather than focusing on writing for the law review, he turned to moot court to get a handle on the actual practice of law. His dedication was clear as he practiced on the Sports Law Moot Court team, earning a spot in the quarter-finals in the Tulane Mardi Gras Sports Law Invitational, a moot court competition with such prestigious competitors as Duke University School of Law and UC Hastings. Trevor and his teammate's brief placed fourth in the competition. This commitment to practice continues in Trevor's work as he fights for his clients. Trevor has worked in personal injury law since his graduation in 2015. He joined Winters & Yonker in 2016 and is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Trevor is committed to seeking justice for his clients. His goal is to always get the most for his clients and to leave them in a better position. Outside of his responsibilities at Winters & Yonker, Trevor worked as a contractor for the American Bar Association on a public interest project, The National Inventory of Collateral Consequences of Conviction (NICCC). The NICCC database aims to provide information about the various legal and regulatory sanctions that individuals convicted of certain crimes may face as they attempt to gain employment, locate housing, further their education, and more. While unrelated to the civil court proceedings that make up his life as a personal injury lawyer , Trevor understands the impact that a criminal record can have on someone's life and appreciated the opportunity to help gather that information into a usable database that is freely available to everyone. His hope is that individuals with criminal records will be able to use it to make informed decisions about their futures, such as which vocational programs to take.
