Amy Playfair

Amy is our Community & Growth Manager, she is responsible for bringing new Propeller's on board the team and is the go-to-girl for all things People & Culture. After three years agency-side placing Recruiters into top London Tech Recruitment agencies, she found her love for all things People and started her career as an Internal Recruiter. Amy has now been recruiting for six years and absolutely loves what she does. Outside of the recruitment world, Amy's main passion is cooking. She finds great joy in trying out new recipes and putting her own spin on them - her love language is food! Amy is a RuPaul's Drag Race fanatic and lover of all things drag - when she's not working you can usually find her at a drag brunch or trying to vogue in her kitchen! She is also an all-round music nerd; she loves her UK Garage and is always on the hunt for tunes old & new to add to her never ending collection of playlists. Fun fact about Amy: She is a self-proclaimed Michelin Star Chef and is currently writing her own cookbook (watch this space!)

Ben Dalzell - COO

Ben is our Chief Operations Officer, and plays a huge role in the day-to-day runnings of the business working directly with Melina, CEO & Founder, as well as strategising the company's long-term goals. He oversees many different departments including Marketing, Operations and Finance. Since Ben has joined Propel, he has overseen a brand launch, new website, new tech, new recruitment models across each teams and transformed the way we work on a day-today basis. Outside of the world of recruitment, Ben is usually found at a park, farm or zoo with his little boy Fraser. Ben can also be found at Carrow Road, the home of Norwich City, he is a massive fan, which definitely demonstrates his resilience…

Harry Price

After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in Urban Planning and Development, Harry threw himself straight into recruitment joining Propel's Data and Python team. He is a Delivery Consultant for our Python & Data team. He specialises in finding the UK's best Software Engineers for AI, ML and Data focused companies, working with a range of Tech start-ups who all offer a variety of really exciting products. Working in our Python and Data team, Harry specialises in recruiting for Software engineering, Data Analyst for AI and Machine learning. Some of Harry's clients has worked within EdTech, Insurtech, Fintech as well as many others. Harry is a massive football fan, enjoying both watching the game and playing it. He even had a season ticket at Cardiff city for around 15 years! When he isn't watching football or smashing recruitment at Propel Harry also enjoys seeing a variety of live music gigs. He once spent a month in Greece on a conservation course learning how to help endangered turtles.

Jeremy Barnes

Jeremy, a Psychology and Business Management University graduate, is our experienced Senior Delivery Consultant who specialises in Product Management talent from a Senior to VP level. Jeremy strengthens our team and offering by being purely focused on finding uncompromising Product talent in the toughest market we've seen for some time and has been integral to a number of our key Product leadership searches. He specialises in Product Management, Project Management, Business Analyst and Programme Management, among many more. When he isn't delivering top talent across the business Jeremy, who is a keen sports fan, can be found watching, playing and talking about Football, Cricket, F1 and Snooker. A fun fact about Jeremy: he is an ex-international endurance runner who once won an international gold medal.

Laura Weatherley

Laura is our Marketing and Operations Manager, working alongside our COO Ben, in getting Propel's name out there and keeping the business in check. With vast experience in Digital Marketing, she has branched out into the recruitment world to help make Propel's greatness globally known. Laura focuses on all things digital marketing overseeing the Propel website and all it's developments, planning and posting content for our online social channels, to email campaigns and helping with all things operations in the office. Her knowledge of marketing is proven in her work and she's only just getting started… When Laura isn't head in her laptop developing our website or writing another blog, she can be found in the gym or walking her very cute rescue pup Winnie. Interesting fact about Laura, she is trained in Level 1 & 2 British Sign Language.

Liam Coote

Liam joined Propel as our Junior Delivery Consultant fresh after his A Levels, having completed a year in Tech recruitment as part of work experience. He is a part of our talent attraction & delivery team, supporting our consultants in finding the best-in-class Software Engineers. Leaving no stone unturned in his search for talent, delivering to our VC & PE backed clients from start-up to Post-IPO. Liam specialises in Tech, Product and Javascript as well as many more. Outside of Propel Liam can be found playing lots of sport like football and golf, going to the gym or found at home spending time with his family and adorable nieces. An unusual fact about Liam, he got 3 A Levels without having to do any exams (thanks to Covid!)

Luke Tyrrell

Luke started his career in recruitment at Propel early in 2018. This was after spending a couple of years in property renovation following his studies at The University of Manchester in Finance & Economics. Luke is now an exceptional leader for our Commercial Team. Luke is a specialist in placing exceptional commercial talent into high-growth tech businesses. He has a proven track record of placing senior commercial leaders into both domestic and international start-ups and scale-ups. Luke specialises in recruiting exceptional commercial talent for high-growth VC & PE-backed technology businesses. Typical roles include; Sales Leadership, Enterprise Sales, Customer Success and so forth. When he isn't recruiting, Luke is typically floating around London sampling the spiciest small plates that he can find. During his downtime, you'll find him plugged in with ANOTHER podcast or daydreaming about one day owning a dog. Fun fact about Luke, when he was 5 years old he won a lookalike contest for looking like Paul Scholes and the award was presented by none other than Paul Scholes!

Mandy Clementi

Our Finance whizz Mandy has over nineteen years of experience and is a Level 3 qualified Association Accountant Technician. Mandy takes care of all things finance in the business as well as overseeing our operational functions and general planning around the office. Outside of Propel Mandy's favourite pastime is cooking and eating with her family and friends or going off on yet another epic hike somewhere in the great outdoors. Fun fact about Mandy: she is our office legend, always looking out for everyone and always bringing in sweet treats, keeping us all well fuelled and happy!

Martyna Michalek

Martyna started her career in IT recruitment where she grew extremely knowledgeable within the sector. She is now our Senior recruitment consultant for the Contracts team where she specialises in various technology and IT solutions, focusing mainly on Polish and EMEA regions. Martyna is capable of building full technology and Infrastructure teams and specialising in a range of development technologies such as Java, .NET, Blockchain, Full-stack, Back end, Front end, Mobile, iOS, Android as well as Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure, Analytics, Networking, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics. Outside of recruitment life, Martyna loves partaking in creative activities, often painting or drawing on her balcony in her free time.

Melina Jacovou - CEO, Founder

Melina is digitally native and has over two decades of experience building innovative senior teams across the tech ecosystem and is one of the most recognisable figures in the digital industry. She is active in the high-growth tech community with a network of VCs, influencers and founders. She advises international and domestic companies about talent growth and spends a lot of her time in North America advising about the expansion to the UK and Europe. Melina is often seen speaking about diversity in business at a wide range of industry events. As a pioneer of talent for the digital economy, Melina founded Propel London in 2001 and the agency is now one of the UK's largest independent digital talent businesses. Through her invaluable expertise in digital talent, she has helped hundreds of businesses grow through the acquisition of skilled digital professionals. She has also invested in and advised many high-growth tech companies and has mentored founders in the digital ecosystem. She takes a real interest in female founders. In recent years Melina was named in the Hospital Club's "Top 100 Influential People in Digital", won the inaugural MARA Award for "Best Human Resources Boss" and in 2012 she led Propel to victory in the "Best Large Agency" category. Michael Hankin

Michael has eight years of experience in Accounting with a Level 2 qualification in AAT Accounting. Before joining Propel, Mike worked as a trainee accountant for Bam Construction. He works closely alongside our Finance Accountant Mandy helping with all tasks within the Finance and Operations remit. When Mike isn't busy sorting all things finance, he enjoys taking his dog Obi for longs walk or can be seen travelling back to Wales to spend time with his family.

Michael Preston

Graduating from University with an Economics degree Michael fell into the work of Marketing at Heathrow Airport. Later he found the world of recruitment where he spent four years recruiting medical communications and advertising professionals in creative agencies, but now has found his feet here at Propel within our Marketing Division. Michael has extensive experience in marketing recruitment, and building strong relationships with candidates and clients within the start-up, scale-up and high-growth tech space. Having worked in the world of marketing for many years, Michael has a strong understanding of marketing principles and takes the time to understand businesses inside and out, to provide a tailored recruitment experience. Most notable success within (but not limited to) CRM, Growth, Marketing Manager, performance, SEO, ECOM, and agency recruitment. Outside of the world of Propel and recruitment, Michael enjoys playing a variety of sports from football to swimming, but he can mainly be found spending time with his family and his rather energetic daughter. Mike once appeared on Romanian tv when out there on holiday and loves a cheeky Nando's.

Phil Rees

Phil joined Propel in 2014 after 5 years on the leadership team at La Fosse Associates. He has extensive twenty years of experience as a recruiter, the last ten have been focused on Executive Search mandates in a mix of early-stage, VC-backed businesses in eCommerce, consumer internet, marketplace and B2B SaaS in the UK, Europe and the United States. Phil has been instrumental in building Propel's Executive Search team. The team enables us to deliver a full suite of services to fast growing technology companies in this sector of the digital economy. When Phil isn't working hard as our Chief Sales Officer or heading up the Executive Search team, he can be found skiing or down the pub with his patient wife, three hilarious children and a lockdown dog. Fun fact about Phil: he was on first-name terms with Hollywood director Steven Spielberg when on the set of the film Saving Private Ryan - how cool!

Samantha Brown

Fresh out of University with a Fashion Marketing degree, Sam decided to swap the sunny beaches of Bournemouth for the bright lights of London, finding her feet in the world of sales. It wasn't long before Sam found new opportunities and joined the world of Recruitment. Sam works within our Commercial function, specialising in SaaS. Sam specialises in placing exceptional new business SaaS salespeople into Europe's most exciting start-ups. She has a superb network of sales leaders and new business-focused individual contributors that add instant and long-term value to her high-growth technology client base. She's determined, thorough and deadly in securing the best talent in the market. When Sam isn't busy recruiting for her latest SaaS positions you can find her out for a run, treating herself to some retail therapy shopping or scouting out yet another cute brunch spot. Fun fact about Sam: she can balance a full pint of beer on her head!

Scarlett Chorley

Born and bred in Bournemouth, Scarlett began her career there, initially working in marketing agencies where she built an understanding of the industry. With a rich network, she then moved into a marketing and eCommerce recruitment agency operating out of London, Berlin and New York. Her ambitions soon led her to the big smoke and to us - Propel! Scarlett now works within our Partnerships division, covering all things Client relationships and Partnerships alongside Founder and CEO Melina. Scarlett comes from the agency world, working on campaigns and new business at DDB, with WPP, and a collection of scaling agencies, therefore bringing a wealth of experience within the client relation industry. She delights her clients with a personable and charismatic charm, delivering exceptionally in record time When Scarlett isn't scouting top marketing talent she enjoys travelling and sampling cuisines all over the world as well as attempting to replicate them at home!

Shane Callaghan

Shane has been in the Recruitment game for over five years. Moving to London from Ireland in 2018 after completing a bachelors degree in Business, Shane initially worked on contract finance recruitment, but over the last three years has been focusing predominantly on finding the best sales talent for tech start-up and scale-ups. Shane recruits for all new business roles from SDR to Enterprise AE for tech start-ups and scale-ups. When Shane isn't busy finding top talent in the tech world, you can find him listening to Bruce Springsteen (he is a massive fan!) and a huge lover of music in general. Shane has also played Gaelic football since he was six years old and supports his home country, Donegal! Fun Fact about Shane: He was a butcher for four years while at University.

Thomas joined Propel in 2012 having already assumed key roles at a number of fast-growing, dynamic companies including his years spent as director at Symbian, creator of the first smartphone OS. He was attracted by our market positioning at the intersection of people and technology, and to the culture we have built here. Having previously served as executive director of a fast-growing public recruitment company and as a director of a number of fast-growing technology companies, Thomas has seen the challenges that growth brings. This experience continues to help us formulate and execute our own ambitious growth strategy. As Chairman Thomas' role is to test, question and enhance strategy, as well as ensure the growth plans of Propel are managed accurately. He provides support to the executive team whilst ensuring the highest appropriate levels of governance.
