David Fraser

David Fraser qualified as a solicitor in 1988, working in Nottingham, before moving to Abergavenny, in 1997, when he joined R George Davies & Co. David's work covers two broad areas - property work and civil litigation. On the property side, he does a mix of commercial and residential property work, in which he has a considerable amount of experience. He is the supervisor of the property department. The firm aims to be very responsive in dealing with its clients, keeping them informed and dealing with issues in a timely way to make sure matters progress well and reach a satisfactory conclusion. On the litigation side, David deals with a significant amount of property litigation (boundaries, rights of way, neighbour disputes, landlord and tenant) as well as dealing with Will and probate disputes, debt collection and contract disputes. He aims to ensure that clients are well informed about the costs they could incur, when litigating, and consider alternative ways of resolving their dispute. If court proceedings have to take place, he assists clients in taking steps to mitigate those costs/act prudently, to secure justice whilst keeping matters in perspective. David Kirkman

David Kirkman qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and worked in Yorkshire before he moved to Abergavenny in 2019. David deals with all aspects of private family law, civil litigation and probate. He considers it a privilege to help clients with some of the most important things in their lives during what are often very difficult times for them.

Huw Medlicott

Huw Medlicott is a non-practicing consultant solicitor. He qualified as a solicitor in 1981, then spent some time running a branch office for a Cardiff firm before moving to spend a period of time with South Wales police (and more latterly the Crown Prosecution Service). He developed specialties in juvenile/youth law as well as other general areas and led teams of prosecutors in various parts of South Wales, also spending some time in London assisting in setting up the Crown Prosecution Service there and assisting in the training of new crown prosecutors. He joined the founder of the firm, RG (Roy) Davies, and the other partner Robert AC Davies in 1989. After joining, he continued with a mixed general practice, developing the firm's criminal and matrimonial departments (whilst continuing to undertake civil litigation work as well). He now specialises in all aspects of public law care/children's work (where local authorities are seeking to intervene in families and take children into care); he became a member of the then fairly newly formed Law Society's children's panel in 1997 and retains that specialty. During the 1990s and up until 2003, he was appointed as a chair of the Legal Aid Appeal Committee in the South Wales area, sitting on numerous appeals. After the Legal Aid system changed, he was appointed an independent assessor of appeals. In that period he was approached by the Law Society and became a complaints investigator and conciliator for the Law Society, investigating complaints against solicitors by their clients and attempting to mediate solutions. In 2007 he was appointed as Deputy Coroner for Powys and a year later took on, additionally, the roles of Assistant Deputy Coroner in Worcestershire and Deputy Coroner in the Glamorgan valleys, positions that he held until 2012. In 2010 he was appointed to be one of her Majesty's Deputy District Judges sitting initially in the civil jurisdiction; he was further approved in 2014 to sit on private children's matters and from 2018 for matters of children's public law (care proceedings). He sits on the London and south-east circuit, nowadays mostly sitting in the family Court. He took over as senior partner of this firm upon the retirement of Robert Davies in 2016. In March 2023, Huw retired as a Senior Partner when the firm became part of Mortimers Solicitors. He is now a non-practicing consultant.

Mair Britton

Mair Britton graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry in 1982. She has worked in a variety of fields. Working for a number of years in the Health Service at Nevill Hall Hospital, accountancy and teaching before joining R George Davies & Co in 2014 to take responsibility for the firm's accounts department. During part of that time, she was Clerk to Crickhowell Town Council before taking a more full-time, role in R George Davies & Co. advising and assisting with the administration of the estates, having undertaken some courses in this area and transferred the skills gained in other areas of her working life. Nicola Willis qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2007 and has worked in law firms for nearly 25 years. Nicola joined R George Davies & Co Solicitors in 2018 and has over 15 years' of experience in helping clients with: Making and advising on Wills, including Inheritance Tax planning; Obtaining Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and registering Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPAs); Court of Protection applications and advising on mental capacity; Administering estates including applying for probate/ letters of administration and Inheritance Tax; Advising on variations of the distribution of estates; Administration of Trusts and the drafting of trust documents; and Other aspects of private client work. Nicola is accredited by Solicitors for the Elderly, a specialist group of trusted advisers - professionally highly qualified and regulated, and who also have additional skills to enable them to work with older and vulnerable clients.
