SOLACE - Key Persons
Chris Regan passed away on January 6th, 2023, in San Diego, California. Chris was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Lawrence and Audrey on February 21, 1966. His dad died when he was 14 and he stepped up to be quite the responsible young man. He graduated from Lloyd C. Bird High School outside Richmond, Virginia, and attended technical school at the same time where he started learning data processing and computer programming.
Chris worked during high school as a cook at Friendly's and Pizza Hut before he landed his first career job at ‘The Computer Company.' He learned many more skills and moved on to Anacomp as a Systems Analyst in Bethesda, Maryland and then in 1991 the company moved him out to San Diego to work for Anacomp in Poway as a Software Engineer. He later worked for Document Sciences, ABT and VRC.
He loved cars, music, club and country dancing at BJ's & Kickers. Between work and dancing, Chris developed some lifelong friendships that lasted more than 35 years. He enjoyed exploring San Diego in his Jeep, and attending rodeos across the Southwest and had a love for animals (particularly his dog Savannah, and cat Sassy). Chris may have had a slight obsession with tattoos, he started early on with a cat on his leg, but slowly grew to become two full sleeves and many more all over his body that he enjoyed getting at Chronic Tattoo.
Chris liked to co-host small parties (and big parties) and cook and enjoyed trying different recipes. He was always on the lookout for something tasty and delicious that he could share. His sister Brenda would come out and visit San Diego often, and they would always be cooking and eating out at some new hole-in-the-wall. His other sister Deb ended up moving in with him when she was diagnosed with cancer. He would ALWAYS lend a hand and help a friend or family or even strangers. He had a giving heart. Chris lived in California the longest but loved reminiscing about Kansas City, and really enjoyed visiting his second mom, Jan, several times over the years.
A memorial service for Chris will be on Monday, February 20. at 1 p.m. in the back patio. It will not be formal, but there will be photo albums and a few of us will share some stories. A Zoom will be set up for those out of town wishing to attend.
