Claire Tero

Claire Tero was born and raised in San Jose, California and graduated with her BA in Anthropology from the University of CA, Santa Cruz in 2011 and with her MS in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University in 2013. Claire spent much of her young life traveling with her British parents and visiting England and other countries, hence motivating her passion for a career that would offer variety in working with people from many cultures. During her graduate school program, she traveled to Nicaragua where she was a teacher for 6 weeks for young children who had many undiagnosed special needs. She is extremely passionate about helping children with special needs and their parents/caregivers get the most out of their schooling and lives. Claire has also been a respite caregiver for parents with children with special needs. As an Occupational Therapist, Claire has a variety of experience working with both children in the school setting, and adults in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient, outpatient, assisted living and home care. Within Claire's career, she has taken courses and utilized "Handwriting Without Tears" curriculum, sensory integration, and dementia care. She is passionate about applying her knowledge to her therapy sessions to help her clients and their families get the most out of their treatments. Claire is married into the military lending to her variety of occupational therapy experience and has lived and worked in New York, Hawaii, and California. She is extremely excited to be settling in North Carolina soon, and furthering her career in pediatrics with Speak Easy Rehabilitation, PLLC.

Melissa-Rose D. Cook

Melissa-Rose D.Cook was born and raised in Somerville MA, about 20 minutes outside of Boston. She attended the University of Hartford where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. During the summer after her Freshman Year, Melissa-Rose worked for Boston Children's Hospital on the Development Floor. Melissa-Rose quickly fell in love with Speech Language Pathology and the clients that the SLP served. By the end of the summer, she knew she was called to be a Speech Language Pathologist. Melissa-Rose graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital Of Health Professions in Boston, MA with a Master of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2005. In 2006, she moved to North Carolina where she worked in the public school's system and for private practices. Melissa-Rose has several years of experience working with individuals, ranging from infants through the elderly, and their families. Although Melissa-Rose specializes in childhood speech and language development, she has experience in numerous areas of speech, language, and swallowing. Her expertise runs from working with children with mild mixed receptive/expressive language delays, on the Autism Spectrum, and who are severe/profound to adults who had traumatic brain injuries and strokes that resulted in communication difficulties, cognitive-linguistic disorders, and/or swallowing disorders. Melissa-Rose creates each therapy session to be inviting energetic and fun. ​On June 1, 2010, Melissa-Rose and her husband Torryhe opened the doors of Speak Easy Rehabilitation. PLLC is one of the best private practices in the Piedmont Area of NC that excels in providing evidence-based treatment, services in the client's natural environment, and caregiver education and training. ​Melissa-Rose is licensed through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the NC Board Of Examiners for SLP. ​Melissa-Rose and Torryhe have 3 amazing boys and a pet gecko, Toothless. In their spare time, they enjoy attending church and family events, outdoor activities, museums, and going to the movies.
