Anna L. Peterson

Dr. Peterson joined the team of veterinarians in 2009. She graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine May 2009. Dr. Peterson is practicing small animal medicine only. She also enjoys seeing exotics and pocket pets. Her interests include, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (member of the Luiz Claudio Combat Team), reading classic and sci-fi/fantasy books, watching movies (anything but scary ones), horseback riding and canine rehabilitation.

Beverly L. Shaw

Dr. Shaw joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1996. She received her undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg , PA and her DVM from Purdue University in 1996. She joined Dr. Temple in partnership of Sunbury Animal Hospital in 2007. Dr. Shaw enjoys restoring her Victorian house, riding her horse and living with her cat and 2 dogs. She likes to read sci-fi/fantasy books and watch movies, anything to avoid housework!

Catherine N Shaw

Dr. Shaw is a 2014 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up on a small beef farm in central Ohio, and developed a love for animals early in life. After graduation, Dr. Katie worked in a large animal practice outside of Buffalo, New York, where she focused on dairy cattle, horses, and small ruminants prior to moving to central Pennsylvania. She joined the Sunbury Animal Hospital team in November of 2021. Her professional interests include herd health, surgery, and preventative medicine for both large and small animal patients. When not at work, Dr. Shaw enjoys hiking and kayaking with her husband, Matt, and their two dogs, Mia and Norman.

Dean M. Cauffman

Dr. Cauffman began working with the Sunbury Animal Hospital part time in 2006. Cauffman graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Animal Science and the University of Pennsylvania with a VMD, specializing in large animal medicine. He has 31 years of experience in all types of large animals but focusing on equine medicine. He cares for 200 pleasure horses per year and focuses on reproduction management for horses. Using his knowledge of large animal health management, Dr. Cauffman has developed health programs for various species, including white tail deer.

Donald C. Kamsler - Founder

Dr. Kamsler founded the Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1952. He received his VMD degree from The University of Pennsylvania in 1950. Dr. Kamsler developed a reputation for service to both veterinary medicine and to his community. In 1998 he and his wife jointly received the Sunbury "Citizen of the Year" award from the American Legion. Dr. Kamsler passed away in 2014, he is greatly missed by the hospital staff and community.

James W. Temple

Dr. Temple joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1972. He received his DVM from Michigan State University in 1971. He became a partner in 1973. Dr. Temple is the senior veterinarian and CEO of Sunbury Animal Hospital. He enjoys traveling with his wife Kathy and listening to jazz music.

Jenn M Kuhn

Dr. Kuhn is a 2021 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in the local area and worked at Sunbury Animal Hospital as a Technician Assistant prior to attending Veterinary School. Dr. Kuhn practices mixed animal medicine. Her veterinary interests include dermatology and small animal internal medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming, archery and hiking with her dog Maya. She also lives with 2 cats and 2 guinea pigs.

Lenora S. Sammons

Dr. Sammons is a 1973 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. After Graduating she enlisted in the US Army Veterinary Corps. She is well versed in small and large animal medicine and has worked with an aray of animals from cows, primates, dogs and pocket pets. Her veterinary interests include dermatology, gastrointestinal, geriatrics and musculo-skeletal problems. She owned and ran her own animal pracitce for 31 years. She is now enjoying a part-time retirement.

Rachelle J. Salem

Dr. Salem is originally from Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate education at Delaware Valley College in 2012 and still considers herself a proud Aggie. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary medicine in 2016 from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Salem practices small animal medicine. Her veterinary interests include production medicine, reproductive ultrasound, preventative medicine, cardiology and kidney disease. Her hobbies include watching movies, reading, attending sports events, spending time with family and friends, hiking and enjoying the company of her four cats, Moo, Bell, Sprout and Squish and her black lab, Oliver.

Samantha M Blossom

Dr. Blossom joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in May 2020 after graduating from Mississippi State University- College of Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from Eglon, West Virginia where she grew up working with dairy cattle. Dr. Blossom practices both large and small animal medicine. Her interests include preventative medicine, rural medicine and general surgery. She is actively involved in canine search and rescue and spends any free time on the couch with her two dogs
