Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical symptoms. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together... Jonathan Monsen (Osteopath) and Lucy Parsons (Osteopath) undertook a four year accredited undergraduate degree to be able to use the title. This course was similar to a medical degree, but with more emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletal medicine. The course included more than 1,000 hours of training in osteopathic techniques. By law, osteopaths must register with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and it is an offence to use the title without being on the register.
