Alison Ridewood

Alison is a Licensed Conveyancer and joined the firm in February 2023 covering maternity leave. She continues to be valued member of our conveyancing department.

Alla Zubenko

Job Titles:

Alla is a Licensed Conveyancer and joined this firm in 2020. She works in the conveyancing department, handling a full range of residential conveyancing work with some commercial experience. Before qualifying as a Licensed Conveyancer, Alla qualified as a Paralegal with the highest membership level of Fellow Member of the Institute of Paralegals. She has also worked as a Legal Counsel in a Charity organisation in London. Alla moved to live in the UK in 2018 from Ukraine where she qualified and had worked as an advocate since 2010. She has a Bachelor (Honours) degree in Law and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) Standard in Law. Alla is a keen traveller. She also enjoys swimming and spending time with family and friends. Alla is fluent in Ukrainian, English and Russian and is learning Spanish and Romanian.

Christine McKay

Christine has been a loyal member of the team at Willett & Co Solicitors for many years and during this time has worked across all departments. Christine currently works directly for Clive Willett dealing mainly with commercial, Wills and probate matters. She was born in Bury St. Edmunds and still resides here with her husband and pet dog. In her spare time Christine enjoys cooking, travelling and gardening.

Clive Willett

Clive was admitted as a solicitor in 1966. He founded the company in 1973. Clive is the firm's Senior Partner and is responsible for the day to day running of the practice. His experience and expertise covers advising on all aspects of commercial and agricultural conveyancing, commercial work including sales of incorporated and unincorporated business, older client service, Wills & trusts including probate litigation and various other non-litigious matters. Before establishing Willett & Co Solicitors, Clive was a partner in a commercial firm in the City of London. Clive is married with children. Apart from his family his other interests are cycling and rowing.

David Shipman

David was educated at Lancing College, Sussex. He joined the wine trade before training as a Solicitor. He was admitted as a Solicitor in 1971 and he worked in Cambridge and Ipswich before joining Willett & Co Solicitors in 1982 becoming a partner in 1985. David is the firm's litigation partner. His experience and expertise covers advising on all aspects of crime, employment, personal injury, agency advocacy and medical negligence cases. David is a member of the Law Society. Apart from his family, his other passions are sailing, music (he is a member of 2 choirs) and sport. He is a shareholder, season ticket holder and long time supporter of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Elizabeth Holmes

Elizabeth is a Solicitor currently working in our Private Client department, dealing with all Wills and Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate. Elizabeth has a background in civil litigation and property having worked and trained at a Central London law firm as well as for high street firms based in Twickenham and West Yorkshire. She has worked in various roles prior to qualifying including Paralegal, Secretary and Cost Draftsman, assisting in many fields gaining a varied experience. Elizabeth originally studied Criminology at the University of Lincoln before turning her focus to Law, going on to study the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Huddersfield and Legal Practice Course at BPP University, London. Outside work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga and walking and attending the theatre and the ballet in London.

Hilary Griffiths

Hilary went to Oxford Brookes University and obtained an honours degree in History & English before attending Guildford College of Law. She carried out her traineeship in London before being admitted as a Solicitor in 1990. Hilary joined Willett & Co Solicitors in 1995 as an Associate Solicitor and deals with non-contentious work. Her experience and expertise covers commercial and residential property transactions, elderly client service, Wills, Inheritance Tax planning, administration of trusts and estates, including probate. Before moving to Suffolk, Hilary was a partner in a London firm specialising in private client work.

Janice Wells

Janice Wells has worked at Willett & Co Solicitors in the conveyancing department since 2001. Janice was educated at Clare Secondary School near Sudbury. She later attended West Suffolk College where she gained her secretarial qualifications. She was raised on a farm in Shimpling near Bury St Edmunds where she enjoyed her childhood. She is married with two sons and her and her husband have eight grandchildren which takes up most of her spare time.

Sara Bloomfield

At present she provides support with residential conveyancing and commercial work. Sara was born and educated in Bury St. Edmunds and still lives in the town with her husband and two children. In her spare time she enjoys walking, socialising and travelling.
