After graduating from the University of Exeter in 2003 with a degree in Economics. Alex worked for several small/medium sized firms whilst he qualified as an ACCA and CTA. Alexander joined Barnes Roffe as a tax manager in 2015 and was promoted to partner two years later in 2017. Alexander advises on all aspects of corporate, personal and trust tax with a particular interest in group reconstructions and employee share schemes. Outside of work Alexander is a keen follower of rugby, cricket and football (in that order) and spends a not insignificant amount of time trying to comprehend why he is so bad at golf.

After graduating from the University of Bristol in 2004 with a degree in Politics and French, Elliot worked for KPMG UK where he qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2007 and gained cross-function experience working with a number of listed global clients across multiple sectors. Elliot joined Barnes Roffe in 2016. Elliot provides accounting, audit and taxation advice to his corporate clients whilst providing practical insight from his experience of advising a wide range of businesses; from listed groups and multinationals to owner managed and entrepreneurial. Outside work Elliot is a cricket fanatic, and enjoys nothing more than watching England play Test matches, either at his beloved Lord's or on overseas tours.

Keith Mason

Unlike many of our partners deliberate career choices, Keith actually became an accountant by accident when his father signed him up at a local agency before his summer holiday from school and a position came up at a small local firm. He ended up working there every holiday from then until he graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Maths & Statistics. It was at this local firm that he undertook his training before moving to a firm in the East End where he was made a salaried partner. However he felt that opportunities there were limited so took an audit manager role at Barnes Roffe. An opportunity for a tax partnership arose in the Dartford office about four years later - the only problem was that he needed to qualify as a chartered tax advisor, so had to go back to college after about ten years off formal exam training! There are some things that are more memorable in our partners careers than others and Keith has definitely got some of the most memorable experiences. One such occasion was when he accidentally tipped a jug of water over a complete set of leather bound ledgers, which had then to be propped in front of a couple of fan heaters to dry them out. However deciding that the team should still sound as if they were busy - they spent the rest of the morning tapping out nonsense on a couple of Olivetti adding machines. Fortunately no-one looked in on them!

Layla Martin

After obtaining a degree in Economics from Royal Holloway, Layla joined Barnes Roffe LLP as a graduate trainee in 2002. Whilst training with Barnes Roffe, Layla particularly enjoyed the exposure to different industries, the variety of work and being given responsibility very early on. Having successfully qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005 Layla knew she wasn't ready to stop sitting exams just yet and qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2006. Following two years post qualified experience working on the firm's largest clients, Layla was promoted to audit manager in 2007 and partner in 2013. Layla is now a tax partner at the East London Office. In her spare time, Layla enjoys spending time with her family and attending boot camp with her friends.
