Anne Marie Chalmers

Anne Marie has expertise in all aspects of Financial provision divorce cases including high value, complex cases. She also specialises in Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements as well as Cohabitation Agreements. She empathises with her clients and provides clear and focused advice tailored to each client's needs. She has a pragmatic approach and is resolution driven. When not at work Anne Marie likes to spend time with her family. Her hobbies include walking and cycling in the great outdoors and pottering about in the garden. She is an avid reader and enjoys relaxing with a good book.

Brian Rooney

Brian is the founding partner of Rooney Family Law. Brian is accredited as a Family Law Specialist by the Law Society of Scotland. He has been practising Family Law for many years and has gained a wealth of experience in this area of the law. He is trained in Collaborative Practice and has particular interests in complicated financial matters arising from Divorce and the law relating to Cohabitation. Brian is empathetic, frank and provides measured advice in difficult situations. He is forward thinking and uses new technology and systems to provide clients with a better service. In particular Brian understands that clients appreciate clarity in relation to fees and has created a more equitable charging structure. When not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Diane Dalrymple

Diane has been employed in different capacities in the legal profession for the last 23 years. She has worked as a receptionist and a credit controller. For the last 15 years she has worked as a Family Law Secretary. Diane is a reliable, organised person who uses the experience she has gained to help clients get through challenging situations. When not working Diane enjoys keeping fit, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.

Frances Konopka

Job Titles:

Frances is an experienced solicitor, having been in practice for over 30 years and having had her own general practice business for over 10 years. She joined Rooney Family Law in May 2022 and brings with her a wealth of general experience while focussing primarily on family law. She is training in Collaborative Practice to offer clients an alternative to the court process, which provides a less stressful experience and better outcomes for clients. She is a member of the Family Law Association and is also a Notary Public. Frances has expertise in all aspects of family law, including Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements, Matrimonial Separation and Divorce, Cohabitation and Dissolution of Civil Partnerships, Residence and Child Contact issues, as well as resolving complex financial aspects arising from separation. Frances understands that practising in this area of law is about more than just knowing and applying the law. Using skills such as active listening, understanding clients' needs and how to support them at stressful times in their lives, she provides advice in a clear and empathetic manner and is resolution driven to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Outside of work, Frances enjoys spending time with her family, including pets and friends. She has also been a Legal Member of the First-Tier Tribunal for Scotland (Health & Education) since 2011.

Julia Harris

Julia joined the Rooney Family Law team in August 2021. She has specialised in Child and Family Law since 2011. Julia represents clients on all family law matters, including separation, divorce, cohabitation, residence and contact. Julia has previously focused on Adoption and Permanence Order cases and continues to provide advice on these complex matters. She is experienced in representing clients in Sheriff Courts around Scotland and in the Court of Session. Julia is empathic and focuses on the client's needs whilst providing pragmatic and clear advice. Julia will always explore alternatives to litigation, such as negotiation and mediation but is a very experienced litigator should that prove necessary.

Louise MacDonald

Louise joined RFL in September 2021 having worked within Family Law for many years. Louise is a reliable and organised person. Louise creates a very positive and approachable atmosphere within the office. Away from work, Louise enjoys walking and spending time with family.

Lynn Collum

Lynn has been a Legal Secretary since she was 16. After gaining many years of experience in Family Law, Lynn was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Family Law Paralegal. She enjoys using the experience she has developed in Family Law to help her build relationships with clients. Lynn listens to what clients have to say and tries to help them resolve their situations. She is calm and level headed. When not working Lynn spends time with her family and friends, goes to the gym and enjoys dining out.

Margaret Liddell

Margaret has worked in the legal profession for 34 years. Margaret has worked in Family Law for over 25 years. She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Family Law Paralegal. In addition Margaret has a BA in Business Management and has worked as a Business Services Manager for several large legal firms. Margaret takes a professional yet compassionate approach with her clients using her extensive experience to assist them with their cases. When not working Margaret enjoys walking in the Scottish Borders with her husband and two labradors.
