ANAMOSA VETERINARY CLINIC - Key Persons
Dr. Angela is a mixed animal practitioner that joined our team in 2022. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is fluent in Spanish. She's excited to meet our clients and get out on the farm.
Dr. Karsten joined our team in 2022 after spending many years teaching the technician program at Kirkwood. We love his eager attitude and excitement to see patients!
After graduating from ISU and practicing in Wisconsin for one year, Brian decided to move home and start the Anamosa Veterinary Clinic. He considers it a privilege to serve in this community, raise his family here, and to take care of clients and their pets throughout the years. He passed the reins of the practice over to Dr. Mackenzie in 2018, but still enjoys practicing part-time and specializing in orthopedic procedures. When he isn't at the clinic, he enjoys adventuring in Colorado with his wife, Jill, and being a grandpa.
Cassie is an ISU graduate that joined our team in June 2023. She's passionate about interacting with bovine producers to better their herd management.
Craig spent the beginning of his career at the AVC but soon after, moved to Des Moines to start his own practice. He recently sold his practice and retired to move home and farm full time. He still enjoys being a veterinarian and will come do relief work for us about once a month. We love having him!
Kayla attended vet school at ISU and joined our team after graduation. She loves working with cattle, surgery, diagnostic ultrasounds, and reproduction work. She spends her free time with her two boys and husband, Jake. She has a big place in her heart for Rottweilers and will tell you all about it!
Kelsey joined our team in 2023 as a recent graduate from ISU. She digs the small ruminants and llamas.

Dr. MacKenzie Paulson is a mixed animal veterinarian and practice owner from Mount Vernon. She graduated from Iowa State in 2011 and started working at Anamosa Veterinary Clinic in June 2011. Her husband, Dustin Paulson, is a sales agronomist for Welter Seed & Honey Company in Onslow. The two live in Anamosa with two shelter cats (Bullet & Winchester). She stays busy in her down time taking care of their two kids - Bentley & Hayley, as well as cheering on the ISU Cyclones and St. Louis Cardinals
Jacob is currently attending vet school at Iowa State University. He spends his time off working and learning at our practice and we think he has a really bright future in vet med!
Katie works full time as an X-ray Technician at St. Luke's Hospital but spends some of her free time with us as a member of our reception team. She will always find an answer to any client's questions!
Nicole starting working as a member of our reception team in high school and still works one Saturday a month. She grooms dogs from her home for her full time job. It's always a good Saturday when Nicole works!
