In 1986, The Dominican Medical Center was designated as the civil surgeon of the United States in the Service of Immigration and Naturalization. Because of this, a great number of patients came from as far as Massachusetts and Virginia. They were attracted by the reputation of The Dominican Medical Center and the excellent care and courtesy we provide to the Hispanic community... We employ a group of doctors and team members that are specifically Hispanic and bilingual. Because of this, THE DOMINICAN MEDICAL CENTER immediately became known for the acceptance by the community of Washington Heights and of the medical insurances where English speaking doctors tried to communicate with their Spanish speaking patients through translators.
