Bryce Day

Bryce was born and raised in Wellington, the son of Betty and the late Bob Day. A graduate of Wellington High School, he served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War. After returning back to Wellington he went to Wichita State University and then to Kansas City Kansas College of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1977. Bryce opened the Day Funeral Home in 1999 and operated the business until 2009 when unforeseen health issues required him to minimize his role. In 2012, Bryce retired from the Day Funeral Home & Crematory. Following a nearly two year battle with pancreatic cancer, Bryce passed away on July 21, 2017. He spent his entire life in service to others and will be greatly missed.

Cheryl Heimer

Following her retirement from Star Lumber, Cheryl joined the funeral home as an evening secretary and eventually transitioned to our full-time office secretary. She joined her husband, John, in retirement in 2016 and is enjoying time with her grandchildren and family. Cheryl is now back to evenings and funeral services where her kind heart and friendliness are helping the many families of Cornejo|Day Funeral Home & Crematory.

Gim Hunter

Gim has called Wellington home for many years but joined the staff of Cornejo Funeral Home in November of 2020. You may recognize Gim from the 15 years he spent with his previous employer, Gaston's Floor Coverings. Gim is dedicated to learning the profession and already posseses the qualities necessary to do well: kind, friendly, service oriented and more. He is currently pursuing his degree in mortuary science and is the company's lead crematory operator. Gim and his wife, Kerri, have two daughters and are members of the Wellington Free Will Baptist Church where Gim serves in the Youth Ministry.

Shirley Shinliver

When someone passes away from the Argonia community, Shirley always makes herself available to assist the funeral home and the family in the days leading up to the service. She is as positive and upbeat as they come and has been very instrumental in allowing our funeral home to maintain a presence in the Argonia community. Shirley has been with our funeral home for over 10 years and we look forward to many more.

Tytus L. Cornejo

Tytus was born and raised in Wellington, Kansas, the son of Joyce (Burden) and the late Ralph Cornejo. Following his graduation from Wellington High School, Tytus attended Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. While there he worked at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Tytus then transferred to the Kansas City Kansas School of Mortuary Science and was a 2003 graduate. Tytus began at the funeral home in 2003 and quickly became involved in all aspects of the funeral home by managing multiple branches in several communities and in 2009 assuming the daily operation responsibilities. Tytus and his wife, April, finalized the purchase of the business in 2013. He feels very fortunate in being able to offer his services and care to the community he has been a part of all his life. Tytus and April live in the funeral home residence with their children: Maizy, Ralphie, Sophie, Benny, Rosie and Manny. The business owner, Tytus L. Cornejo, was born and raised in Wellington, Kansas and feels this gives him a uniquely vested interest in our community because it has been "home" all his life. Because this is our hometown, our team feels deeply committed to building lasting relationships with our community members through friendly and professional services.
