Dr. Motiur Rahman has extended his research towards Drug Metabolism. During his postdoctoral tenure at Yeungnam University, Kyungpook National University and at UiTM Malaysia, he has done various research. In October 2010, he has joined as Assistant Professor, at College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and now serving as an Associate Professor. He has published his research work in JMC, BMC, EJMC, EJOC, Tetrahedron, etc. and having great contribution in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Motiur Rahman atrated his academic career as a Research Professor in 2007 at the Institute for Drug Research, College of Pharmacy, Yeungnam University, South Korea. Later on, he joined as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2008-2009) at the Catalysis and Synthetic Methodology Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Kyungpook National University, South Korea. In 2009 he joined at the Faculty of Pharmacy, MARA University of Technology, Malaysia as a Postdoctoral officer. In 2010 Dr. Motiur Rahman joined in the College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an Assistant Professor and till now he has been working as an Associate Professor at the same university. Currently, he has been holding two funds from National Plan for Science and Technology, King Abdullah City for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia ( 2,000,000 SAR in both) (Project no. 11-MED- 1909-02 & 12-MED- 2439-02) Some of his ongoing projects including; Synthesis, biological assays and metabolic profiling of biological active natural molecules à Methodology development of various organic reactions à Detection, characterization and fragmentation pattern of natural products using DART à Design, Synthesis, Photophysical, and Biological Properties of Fluorescein Hydrazones à Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Diarylheptanoids and Their Derivatives for the Development of New Anti-Cancer Agents Professor Motiur Rahman published more than 80 articles, Book Chapters, Monographs and conference Proceedings in peer reviewed international journals and conference proceedings which are indexed in SCI, Scopus etc. He also participated in numerus research projects in Kora, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in different capacities. Professor Motiur Rahman has been performing as Editorial Board Member and Reviewer of renowned journals in his area. He has also been teaching and supervising Postgraduate and undergraduate students. During his research and academic career, he has been awarded many honors and recognitions e.g. NEDO fellowship Japan, Brain Korea 21 (BK21) scholarships, Korea Research Foundation fellowship for Research Professor, Korea Research Foundation fellowship for Ph. D program and Yeungnam University scholarship for Ph. He has obtained 3 patents for his discovery/new of method on biofuel development from biomass. During his PhD research Dr. Alam establish and proposed a new innovative methodology for microalgae biomass harvesting from diluted medium without additional energy and chemical input which is known as environment friendly "Bio flocculation" method. He also discovered the mechanism of self-flocculation algae-based bio flocculation and associated polysaccharide molecule which is responsible for the sedimentation of microalgae. The research on discover associated gene for the flocculation is ongoing with his supervision with National funding from NSFC. Dr. Alam is an editor of springer book titled "Microalgae Biotechnology for Development of Biofuel and Wastewater Treatment" and "Microalgae Biotechnology for Food, Health and High Value Products". Dr. Alam has been working as reviewer in many top journals of his area was awarded top reviewer award from Bioresource Technology in 2017. Dr. Alam presented his research projects more than 15 international conferences. In addition, he has participated in several national/international projects promoting biofuel and other high value commodity applications of microalgae & other biomass. Beside his research work in China, Dr. Alam is also working establish and enhancing research collaboration Bangladesh and Chinese research platform. He loves working with basic questions and like to mentor the students and involving with Bangladesh Junior Academy of Science (BJAS) from its establishment to promote science education among school going students.
